Casual fever

Casual fever

I was working this morning. While I was working I saw that our maid Kamal was standing behind me. I turned around to see that she was looking at me. I asked her, "do you need me to move?" thinking that she wanted to wipe the floor where I had been sitting. Kamal looked little embarrassed. While fidgeting with her dupatta she looked down and asked me," didi do you know any medicine for fever?" Kamal knew that I was from medical field and she would obtain ask me about the medicines. From her question I knew that someone in her family has fever. I asked her, "who has fever? Have you gone to the doctor?" I very well knew how much she avoided going to the doctor. "My daughter has fever for last 5 days. I do not understand what is happening with her. Her fever comes and goes. But now she is fe…

A quick kind of happiness

Happiness is not always an exciting. SP margin it to be. Sometime it is not a celebration, or a good marks or something amazing news. Sometime it is just sitting comfortably at home after finishing everything you need to do and realise that for once, nothing is bothering you now. I had one of those moments recently There was nothing particularly special about the day. I did not go anywhere exciting, meet anyone or receive some good news. It was just a random day, but by the evening, I noticed that I felt recently peaceful. I finished most of the things I needed to do, my phone was relatively quiet, and I was sitting in my room without feeling like I had to rush somewhere. I have something to drink beside me and I was just scrolling through my phone occasionally without really looking fo…

Rain through the Metro window

The rain started while I was sitting inside the metro and somehow the wall journey suddenly fell different. I had been doing what I usually do during a Metro ride, looking for my phone, checking message and occasionally looking outside whenever I got bored. I was not expecting anything interesting to happen, So when I noticed the first drop on the window, I paid attention. At first, it was just a few draft. They slowly started covering the glass and within a few minutes the rain had become heavier. I looked outside and saw people moving quickly, trying to find shelters or opening their umbrella. From inside the Metro, everything looks slightly blurred because of the water on the window. There was something peaceful about watching the rain while being completely protected from it. I did n…

09 August 2026

7:30 AM: I got up little late today, because it was Sunday. But I have to hurry because I need to head to my sister's home. We are cerebrating ny nephew's birthday with relatives from my mother's side. My aunt, uncle, cousin, niece, and nephew will be coming. I am excited to meet them. 9:30 AM: My sister called me to tell me to reach her home by 11:30 AM. She needs my help for making the arrangements. I told her that I will be there. 11 AM: Getting ready. It started raining. This is a bad time for rain. All guests are traveling 20+ kilometers. I hope they do not cancel the plan because of the rain. 11:20 AM: I have reached my sister's home. Helping her with plates, cutlery, cleaning, etc. We are almost ready for the guests. I am really excited to meet my relatives. I have not seen my co…

A little change

I randomly recur it to rearrange my room. I was not planning to do anything major, but somehow I started moving things around and then there was no going back. I started with one small change, and before I knew it, I had moved half the things in my room. I first move my chair because I feel like it was in the wrong place. Then I thought the table would look better somewhere else. After moving the table, I realise that a few other things also need to be moved. This is how these things always happen. You started with one small change, and suddenly you are standing in the middle of the room, wondering what you have done,LOL. I found an old notebook with some notes written in it. I opened a few pages and ended operating things instead of cleaning. I had written some completely random thought…

Lost in translation

Lost in translation

This morning I sat down to write my weekly blog. This time I decided to do something different. Instead of writing about someone else's horror experience I decided to write down my own experience of healthcare. While I was writing my blog another idea popped in my mind. It was creating a bilingual blog. I decided to write the blog in English followed by its translation in my mother tongue Marathi. I was completely blown away by my own idea. I gave myself a pat on the back for coming up with such a brilliant idea. "I am such a genius", I thought to myself. I had the concept in my mind and writing it down was not a challenge. In half an hour I was a ready with my first draft in English. I spent next 20 minutes to proof read and improve the redibility of the written content. Guilty as char…

A quiet moment

There is something special about waking up early specially on a day when there is nowhere to rush. Most morning began with alarm, getting ready quickly and thinking about every thing that needs to be done. But every once in awhile, I wake up before everyone else and those morning feel completely different. The house is unusual quiet. There are no conversation, no television sound and no moment in the room. It almost feels like wall world is taking a deep breath before the day begins. I enjoy too those few peaceful moments before because they also rare. They remind me that silence is not empty sometime it is exactly what we need. The first thing are you usually do is open the curtain or step into the balcony. The morning if you slow cooler and the sunlight is softer than it is later in th…

A little happiness at home

There is a small happiness that comes with changing our bedsheets. It is such a simple thing, but somehow clean and fresh bed can completely change the feeling of a room. After a busy day, coming back to neatly arranged bed feel surprisingly comfortable. I usually do not think much about it while changing the sheets. It feels like normal household task that needs to be done. But the moment everything is changed and arranged the room feels different. The fresh smile, the smooth fabric, and the neat.appearance create small sense of satisfaction. One of my favourite moment is lying down on fresh bed shape at the end of the day. There is something peaceful about it. Even if the day was tiring or stressful, getting into clean bed feels like a fresh start. It feels like leaving behind the tired…

Watching it again

Watching it again

People often ask why anyone would watch the same movie or TV show more than once. After all, we already know the ending, the plot and even some of the dialogues. Would not be more exciting to watch something new? Surprisingly, I still find myself going back to the same favourites again and again. Sometime, similarity feels like quiet conversation with an old friend. It usually Happens when I cannot decide what to watch. I spent several minutes scrolling through different streaming platforms, reading descriptions, and watching trailers, but nothing feels interesting. Instead of facing more searching, end up, choosing a movie or series that I have already seen. Somehow, it also feels like the right decision. There is something comforting about watching a familiar story. I already know what…

Translate for me

Translate for me

I work as a freelance research participant with an academic research platfotm. Everyday I receive studies which require my inputs as an end user or as a potential customer. Just that everyday, this morning I received a study which turned out to be a unique experience. This morning i logged into my academy research platform. I was eagerly waiting for a study to appear in my worklist. I got a pop up notification. My eyes lit up. I was delighted because I was going to earn really well with that study. I clicked on "participate in study" option. It took me to the study page. What I saw next made me surprised. The study was in Spanish. All the questions where ask in Spanish language. There was no option to translate the study page from Spanish to English. The questions and the options to we…

Waiting for the delivery

There is something strangely exciting about ordering something online. It does not even have to be expensive. It could be a book, phone case, skin, care, clothes or something as simple as pack of pens. The moment I placed the order, I immediately start waiting for it to arrive. I always tell myself that I am being patient, but honestly, I am already imagining the package at my door. The waiting begins with the tracking page. I probably check if it more often than I need to. Even though I know the package cannot travel across the country in just a few hours, I still open the app to see if the status has changed. Seeing the words like β€œshipped”, β€œout of delivery” or β€œarriving today” , somehow makes me more excited. It feels a little Silly, but I cannot help it. The best day is always a del…

Checking the weather again

I have a funny habit that I never really notice until recently. I keep opening the Weather app even when I already know what the weather is like. Sometimes the eye check it in the morning, leaving home, then again an hour later and somehow again in the afternoon.. The forecast really changed that much, but I still feel the need to look at it. The habit usually start when I wake up before I even get out of bed. I unlock my phone and check the weather. I want to know if it will be sunny, clouded or if there is any chance of rain. It feels like an important part of planning my day, even if I am not going anywhere special.. The funny part is that I continue checking it when after stepping outside. If I can already see the bright sunshine through the window, why do I still need a app to tell m…

Last class with Arya

Last class with Arya

The last week had been difficult. Last week there was a ceremony for one of my students, Arya (pseudonym). According to me this was a cash grab ceremony so that the student continues with our platform. During the ceremony Arya had told us that she did not wish to continue. For me it was the end of the discussion. For the platform it was a challenge which they wanted to overcome. There were discussions going on here and there however they did not result into anything fruitful. Arya had already made up her mind. So yesterday was her last class. At 3 o'clock I opened my laptop. I was preparing for the last class for Arya. I had mixed feelings towards the last class. It was neither sadness or happiness but it was more about the disappointment and the uncertainty of future. I was disappointe…

My desk is clean but my homework is still waiting

Every time I decide that today is the day, I will study seriously sometime unexpected happens. I sit at my desk, open my book and suddenly notice that my desk looks messy. Foreshadowing

Foreshadowing

A strange incident occurred today and it made me think about the foreshadowing. Yesterday I was drafting a post for my own blog. I had written a fictitious story which would sound relatable and entertaining. I had written that my house help comes to work. While she is working it starts raining heavily. She asks me if I can lend her my umbrella. I tell her that I have only one umbrella in my house. If I had given it to her I would have no umbrella with me. If I had to go out I would have no umbrella and I would get wet. Somehow the house help manages to convince me to give her my umbrella. She takes my umbrella with her and in the evening I want to go out to buy groceries. But I cannot go out because I have no umbrella. This was my story. Now today what happened? It was 10:30 in the mor…

Morning call

Morning call

I was woken up by my phone ringing in the morning. I started and woke up. My Mother started and woke up too. Late night and morning phone call never give any good news. My heart was pounding, completely on aware of what I am about to hear. My mother is worried and she is looking at me with terror in her eyes. "Who is it", she whispered. I could send the fear in her voice. With trembling hands I see the name of the caller. It was Shivangi my office colleague. I gave a Sai of relief and told my mom it is someone from the office. I saw my mom's face relaxing hearing that it is no one from our relatives. I am still scared. Why is Shivangi calling me so early in the morning? It is 6:45. With trembling hands I tapped on the phone screen and answer the call. " What happened Shivangi?" I asked. …

Happiness of rearranging my room

Today, I decided to rearrange my room. It was not because it was very messy was because someone asked me to do it. I simply felt like changing a few things. I moved some books, cleared my desk, folded my clothes properly and change position of few small items. It did not take a lot of time, but when I finished, my room felt completely different. I have noticed that whenever I feel confused or stressed, I naturally start organising my surrounding. Cleaning my room somehow makes my Mind feel lighter. It is almost as if putting things back in their places help me organise my thought at the same time. While rearranging my room, I found a few things that I had forgotten about. There were old notes, random object that remind me of different moments in my life, some made me smile because I had co…

Found when I least expected it.

Today, something very simple made me surprisingly happy. I found my power bank after thinking it was lost. I had been looking for it for several days and had almost convinced myself that I had left it somewhere outside or lost it while travelling. I checked my bag, my desk and every place where I thought it could be, but it was nowhere to be found. After searching so many times, I finally gave up. I told myself that it was probably gone and that I would have to buy a new one. Also, it was just a power bank, I felt a little disappointing. It was useful and I had used it for a long time. Losing it, remind me how easily we take everyday things for granted until they are no longer with us. Today, while cleaning my room, I decided to move a few things around. As I was organising a shelf, I not…

The code of kindness

What is one kindness you saw or did today? Today remaineded me that kindness rarely announces itself. It doesn't arraive with applause it headlines. Most of the times it slios quietly into someone's day, does it's job and leaves without asking to be remembered. The kindness I saw today was too small that many people probably would not have noticed it. An elderly man was trying to cross a busy road hesitating every few steps as vehicles rushed past them. A young delivery rider who was clearly in a hurry himself parked his bike to the side, walked back and simply held out his hand. There was no camera, no audience, no expections of gratitude. He waited until the old man reached the other side safely, smiled and nodded and continued with his day as though nothing remarkable happened m …

Struggles of virtual life

Struggles of virtual life

Today I had an important meeting at 12 o'clock. I was checking the time. It was 11:30 in the morning and my house help Shanta had not come yet. I want pacing around worrying. I had specifically two concerns. First concern was that if my meeting starts I won't be able to leave it. If she arrives after the meeting starts I won't be able to let her in and my entire housework would be incomplete. My second concern was that if she comes before the meeting I knew she will not be able to complete her work till my meeting starts. It will look very weird seeing me on the camera and she dusting the floor in the background. I wanted to avoid both scenarios at any cost. I checked the time again. It was 11:35. The doorbell rang, I knew it was Shanta. I let her in and told her to sweep the floors imme…
