A quick kind of happiness

AnonymousAug 14, 2026Today in Review505 words

Happiness is not always an exciting. SP margin it to be. Sometime it is not a celebration, or a good marks or something amazing news. Sometime it is just sitting comfortably at home after finishing everything you need to do and realise that for once, nothing is bothering you now.

I had one of those moments recently

There was nothing particularly special about the day. I did not go anywhere exciting, meet anyone or receive some good news. It was just a random day, but by the evening, I noticed that I felt recently peaceful.

I finished most of the things I needed to do, my phone was relatively quiet, and I was sitting in my room without feeling like I had to rush somewhere. I have something to drink beside me and I was just scrolling through my phone occasionally without really looking for anything

Usually, when I was resting, my mind keeps reminding me about things I should be doing. I start thinking about unfinished work, tomorrow’s plan, things I forget or something someone said earlier. But that evening my mind felt quiet.

I did not realise how much I needed that feeling until I actually experienced it.

There was something nice about not having to solve anything for a few hours. I did not need to make an important decision. I did not need to explain myself to anyone, I did not need to worry about what someone else was thinking about me.

I could simply exist.

I think we sometime make happiness to complicated. We keep waiting for a big moment. That will suddenly make everything better, we think we will feel happy when we achieve a particular goal, by something we want, go somewhere or finally get the answer we have been waiting for.

But maybe happiness also exist in these ordinary moments that we barely notice.

It can be having a good meal when you are hungry. It can be laughing at something stupid with a friend. It can be getting home safely after a long day. It can be lying in the bed when you know you have nothing urgent to do.

It can even be sitting quietly and realising that you are okay.

I also noticed that I was not trying to document the movement, I did not take a picture or post anything, I did not feel the need to prove that I was having a good evening, I was simply enjoying it for myself.

That felt nice.

Maybe not every good moment, I need to become a memory that we carefully preserved. Some moments can just happen and disappear. We can enjoy them while they are there and let them become part of our day.

By the end of the evening, Nothing in my life had changed dramatically. My problem had not disappear, and still I had things to do with the next day.

But I felt rested.

Sometimes that is enough.

Maybe the happiest moments or sometime the ones we almost forgot to notice.

When you find a moment of quiet peace, do you
