The trouble began when I caught a cat sitting on my balcony and staring at me like I owed it money.I don’t own a cat. I don’t particularly understand cats. Yet there it was, comfortably seated on my chair, judging my existence with the confidence of a retired government officer.
“Shoo!” I said.It blinked.I clapped my hands. It yawned.I waved a newspaper at it, and the cat
stretched, cleaned one paw, and continued occupying my property. At this point, I felt less like a homeowner and more like an unpaid security guard.
I called my neighbour.“Your cat is on my balcony.”“That isn’t my cat,” she replied.I looked at the animal. It looked at me.Apparently, we had both been abandoned by customer service.
I placed a bowl of water outside, hoping to encourage its departure. Instead, it drank, settled down, and invited two more cats. By afternoon, my balcony had become a luxury
resort with complimentary refreshments.I decided to establish boundaries.I put up a handwritten sign: PRIVATE PROPERTY. NO CATS ALLOWED.
The following morning, someone had added beneath it: EXCEPT THE HANDSOME ONE.I suspected my neighbour’s teenage son. Then things escalated. I found paw prints on my windowsill, a missing sandwich, and one mysterious feather beside my slippers. I began keeping records like a detective investigating an international conspiracy.
My family was not supportive.“Maybe the cat likes you,” my mother suggested.“Mother, this is not affection. This is an organised occupation.”
Three days later, I finally confronted the cat. I stood before it with my hands on my hips and delivered a speech about respect, property
rights, and the importance of earning one’s own food. The cat listened without interruption. Then it sneezed on my foot.I was preparing my final counterattack when my neighbour knocked on the door, holding a small photograph.“That’s not a stray,” she explained. “It’s the building owner’s cat. Everyone feeds him because he keeps the rats away.”
I stared at her.“So, I’ve been fighting management?”She nodded sympathetically. That evening, I placed a small cushion on my balcony.
The cat arrived, inspected it, and sat down.I suppose every war ends when one side realises the other side owns the building.Unfortunately, the next morning, I discovered a second cat on my bed.Apparently, management had expanded.
I finally accepted defeat and welcomed my furry landlords. Life teaches strange lessons, but nothing prepares you for losing a property dispute to someone who cannot even pay rent.

I strongly believe that cats rule the world and allow us to coexist. There is no other way. If cat shows up at my door I will accept it is my owner and surrender myself as a minion.

Haha this is so funny and so relatable. The image of a cat sitting on your balcony staring at you like you owed it money, and judging your existence with confidence of a retired government officer - I am laughing out loud. And the whole sequence - "Shoo!" you said, it blinked, you clapped, it yawned, you waved newspaper and it just stretched, cleaned one paw and continued occupying your property. So accurate, cats really have zero respect for personal property. And that line, feeling less like a homeowner and more like an unpaid security guard, so good. And the neighbor saying "that isn't my cat" - now I am curious whose cat it was. Please write the next part.

Why these accidents never happen with me? 😭 I love cats but the cat distribution system works against me. I makes me sad to see others living my dreams 😭
