"You were my white Mustang"
Some songs feel like memories you haven't completely finished processing."White Mustang" is one of those songs for me. It has a strange kind of beauty to it. It doesn't feel like a love song where everything works out perfectly. It feels more like remembering someone after enough time has passed for the emotions to become complicated.
There are people we meet and omm know they will matter.Thwn there are people we meet and have absolutely no idea what they are going to became in our story. Sometimes they become our happiest memories. Sometimes they become our biggest mistakes. And sometimes , frustratingly, they become both.
Calling someone aistake sounds simple when you look backward. You can see the warning signs . The things you ignored. The conversations you should have taken seriously. The moments when you knew something wasn't right but decided to stay anyway. Looking back, everything seems obvious.
But life doesn't give us the luxury of hindsight while we're making decisions. When you're inside a situation, you don't know how it ends. You only know what you feel at that moment. Maybe you genuinely loved that person. Maybe you believed things would change. Maybe you saw potential instead of reality. Maybe you were lonely.
Maybe you were young . Maybe you simply wanted it to work so badly that you convinced yourself it would. And then one day. It doesn't. That's when the word mistake becomes tempting. You want to erase the entire chapter. You want to believe that if you had never met them, everything would have been better.
But I'm not sure that's always true. Some people enter our lives for reasons we only understand much later. Not because everything they did was good. Not because every relationship deserves to be romanticized. And definitely not because pain is secretly beautiful. But because experiences change us.
Someone can hurt you and still teach you something. Someone can disappoint you and still reveal what you deserve. Someone can leave and still change the person you become afterwards. That doesn't mean we should keep people who hurt us. Sometimes leaving is the healthiest thing you can do.
But Leaving doesn't require pretending the entire relationship meant nothing. And maybe that's what this song represents for me. The complicated space between "I miss you". and " I'm glad you're gone". Both can be true. You can remember someone fondly and still know you shouldn't go back.
You can appreciate what a person meant to you without wanting them in your present. You can admit that something was beautiful while accepting that it wasn't meant to last. And perhaps the biggest lesson is that we shouldn't judge our past selves too harshly. That version of you didn't know what you know now.
They made decisions with the information, emotions and maturity they had at the time.. Of course you would make different choices today. That's the entire point of growing. So when I hear "White Mustang," I didn't think only about a person. I think about every decision I've ever called a mistake. Every person I wish I had understood earlier.
Every moment I would handle differently now. And I realize that maybe my past doesn't need to be edited. It just needs to be understood. Because some chapters were never meant to become permanent parts of our lives. They were simply meant to become stories we eventually learned from.

sometimes we start listening a particular song because it resonates with our feelings and we try to hide our memories in those particular songs and personally I feel a lot when such songs are played and start questioning everything from my past
