The message stayed on her screen.
"When are you going to choose yourself?"
She read it again.
And again.
For some reason, she couldn't close the chat and forgot about it.
She typed.
"I don't understand."
The reply came after a few seconds.
"You will."
She frowned.
"Who are you?"
This time, there was a longer pause.
Then came the message.
"Someone who noticed what you stopped noticing about yourself."
She stared at the screen.
Nobody had ever said anything like that to her.
She had become so busy being there for everyone else that she had forgotten what it felt like to be there for herself.
The next morning, she woked up with one thought in her mind.
Maybe I really have changed.
She opened her notes app and wrote three questions.
What do I want?
What makes me happy?
When was the last time I choose myself?
The first two answers came easily.
The third one didn't.
She put her phone down and looked out of the window.
For the first time in a long time, she didn't try to find an answer that would make someone else happy.
She decided to find an answer that was honest.
And then her phone buzzed.
Another message.
"Start with one small thing today."
She looked at the screen and smiled quietly.
Maybe this wasn't about discovery who she had been before she started living for everyone else.
She opened her notebook.
And wrote one sentence:
"Today, I choose myself."
She didn't know it yet..
but that sentence was going to change everything.
When you realize you've been neglecting yourself, do you
Your vote is final.
