It was a scalding hot day of Summer in the month of May. I was 4 years old. I was burning with high fever and not eating anything. My mother came and asked me, "I have bought this new pack of biscuits from the market. Do you want to have it with milk?" My mom had a new pack of biscuits in her hands. I had never seen it before. But the nausea induced by the fever was not making it look appetizing. "I don't want to have anything. I just want to sleep" I said and went back to sleep.

This was my first exposure to the newly launched pack of biscuits by Britannia which was called Delight. I did not eat this biscuit when my mum bought it that time. I tasted it after I had made a complete recovery. I still remember asking my mother to repurchase that biscuit so that I can taste it. My mother repurchased it and when I tasted it I realised why the name 'Delight' was appropriate for it. It was similar to the 'Goodday' series of Britannia but this one was Orange flavoured. The orange flavour to was really pleasant. It was neither too mild to not be tasted nor too strong that would make it unapatizing. It was just right.

Delight had amazing taste and texture. For the first time when I eat it I really enjoyed it. It will had undoubtedly become my new favourite. Unfortunately my favourite did not continue for a very long time. Maybe it was not profitable or maybe it was not liked by the masses. Britannia soon decided to stop the production of Delight biscuits. I believe this was in the market only for two or three months before disappearing into the oblivion. With discontinuation of production and circulation these iconic biscuits soon disappeared from the memories as well.

Later I remember in the late 90s Britannia had relaunched these biscuits for a limited time. They were lauched as limited edition festival packs. I was really happy to see that these biscuits had been relaunched. But unfortunately Britannia decided to take them off the market after the limited edition got sold out. After that we are yet to see the resurgence of this product.

I feel that only few people would be able to remember the Delight biscuits because they had been in the market for a very short time. Their run in the market was for a very limited period of time and I would say that probably it was not even a successful product. Yet all those who remember this product still speak about it with a lot of interest. Those who remembered the Delight biscuits are still waiting for Britannia to decide to launch them again. I am one of them who is eager to see the Delight biscuits back in the market. If Britannia decides to rebrand and launch this product I would still be okay with it. I was completely in love with the concept and I would accept any name for it if it comes back.

Britannia Delight biscuit is one of the tastes of my childhood which I am still actively searching for. I hope one day Britannia decides to launch them again. Keeping my fingers crossed 🤞🏻
