No one deserves to hear words like that, especially from people who were supposed to teach and guide. A single mistake never defines intelligence, worth, or potential. I am terrified of going into academia, doing research, finding solutions all sounds like a fairytale to me but when I ask ppl actually supposedly living this fairytale look at me as if they are trying to stop a curse from passing onto the next gen.

I am sorry that the person who is supposed to guide you is actually degrading you and demotivating you. College is supposed to be a place where you start to feel confident. But the reality is far more devastating and it is almost like the college professors are training you for how the real world works with sharp words and uncaring environment
