Iris stumbled backwards.
The little girl in the shattered mirror looked exactly like her.
Same blue eyes. Same crooked smile.
Except her reflection was blurry.
“Who are you?” Iris whispered.
The girl tilted her head.
“Fine. Your family belongs to the Keepers of Forgotten Stories.”
“The what?”
“People who protect memories the world has lost.”
Iris glanced at her brother.
“And nobody thought to mention this during dinner?”
He shrugged. “Dad wanted you to have a normal childhood.”
“Excellent job.”
The mirror suddenly shimmered, revealing a magnificent library floating among the clouds.
Golden staircases connected enormous bookshelves. Tiny glowing creatures fluttered between them.
“That's the Archive,” her brother explained. “Every forgotten memory lives there.”
“Then why has everyone forgotten me?”
The girl in the mirror grew serious.
“Because someone has stolen your story.”
Iris felt her stomach drop.
“Can we get it back?”
“Of course,” the girl replied. “But there's one problem.”
“What?”
“The thief is already inside the Archive.”
Suddenly, a golden key appeared in Iris's palm.
Her brother smiled.
“Looks like the Archive has chosen you.”
The mirror transformed into a doorway.
Beyond it, thousands of books began glowing.
Iris took a deep breath.
“Fine. But if we're entering a magical library, I'm borrowing something."
She stepped through.
A book floated towards her.
Its title read:
THE GIRL WHO STOLE HER OWN STORY.
Iris frowned.
“Wait... WHAT?”
And somewhere deep inside the Archive, someone began laughing.
You discover your family are the Keepers of Forgotten Stories, and your own story has been stolen. The mirror shows a doorway to the Archive where your story is
Your vote is final.
