There is a specific kind of vividness to the things we notice when we are trying hard not to look. For me, it was the third bench from the front, slightly to the left of the instructor’s podium. In a crowded coaching institute classroom filled with the monotonous hum of competitive exam preparation, the world seemed to lose its color. Everything was a blur of heavy reference books, blackboards covered in complex formulas, and the crushing weight of academic expectations. But my focus always anchored on a single point: the quiet way he flipped the pages of his notebook, and the steady click of his favorite purple gel pen.

I had forgotten my calculator, and before the cold sweat of anxiety could fully set in, a hand extended across the narrow aisle, offering a spare. When our eyes met, my chest tightened with a sudden, fluttering warmth that no formula could explain. From that afternoon on, the dull, exhausting routine of classes completely transformed. I found myself waking up earlier, dressing with a bit more intent, and secretly hoping the seating chart would somehow shift us closer together.
