Swan month and it's significant

Sawan Month in India is very holy. For Hindus it brings a pleasure of worship and devotion. It is dedicated to Lord Shiv. It usually falls in between month of July and August during Mansoon Season.

During this holy month devotees often..
- Fasting on Monday
- Offer Water, Milk, Curd, Honey, Ghee, Black Til, Belpatra, Belphal, Dhatura,Rice, Flowers, Fruits, Chandan, Some Money and other suitable items.
- Chant the mantra "Om Namah Shivay" during devotion and whenever remember to chant.
- Read and listen to Sawan Somwar Vrat Katha.
STORY OF SAWAN MONTH
During Samudra Manthan, poison called Halahal occurred. Everyone was was feared about what will happen to the all Creation and Nature. It will destroy the Creation.
So all Deavas and Asurs prayed to Lord Shiv to consume the Halahal Poison and save the Creation. Shivji then drank Halahal and kept it in the throat so that it may not reach to the body, otherwise it will destroy the World. That's why his throat got blueish. So he was named "Mhadev" & "NEELKANTH". So to get rid of that poisonous effect and calmness, devotees pour water to the Shivling.



During Sawan million of pilgrims carry the Gangajal from Haridwar , Soron, Hastinapur, Allahbad or nearest river and pour it to the Shivling. And pray for Happy, Peaceful and successful life.
