One of the biggest changes that come with growing up is learning to depend on yourself. As children be naturally Depend on our parents, teachers or older family members to solve problem and make important decision decisions. We always know that there is someone to guide us whenever we feel confused but adulthood slowly changes that. One day, we realise that we are the ones who have to make the decisions, face the consequences and find out our own way forward. That moment is the most hardest moment when you truly realise it that now you have to make your own decisions, and nobody will gonna save you if the consequences went wrong.
At first, this can feel overwhelming. There are moments when we wish someone would simply tell us what the right choices. It is choosing a career, managing money or making important life decisions, there is no perfect guidebook. We learn by trying, making mistakes and gaining experience along the way.
One lesson I have learned is that depending on yourself does not mean doing everything alone. It means trusting your own judgements while also knowing when it is okay to ask for help to your parents or friends. Many people think independence means never needing anyone else, but that is not true. Even the strongest people need advice, support and appreciation sometimes. The difference is that they take responsibility for their own lives instead of expecting others to solve every problem because nobody is permanent in your life.
Growing up also teachers to become emotionally independent. There will be days when nobody fully understand what we are feeling. Friends may be busy, family member may not always have the right words and some problems are ours to work though. During those moment, we learn to comfort ourselves, instead of waiting for someone else to make everything better for us.
This journey is not always easy. There are days filled with self doubt, question our decisions and wonder if We Are moving in the right direction. Sometime we compare self with the people who seem more confident or successful. We scroll through Instagram and LinkedIn, we see the same age people doing better in their lives, but we have to understand that, we all have different path and different Perfect timing in our lives. Confidence does not appear overnight. It grows each time we face a difficult situation and discover that we are stronger than we thought.
One of the most important thing adulthood has taught me is that mistake are not sign of failure. They are part of becoming independent, evert wrong decision teaches us something that no book or advice ever could. Depending on yourself also means believing that you are capable of handling life’s challenges. You will not always know what the future holds for you, but you learn to trust that you will figure out things one step at a time. The confidence is built through every day experience, not by the perfection.
The more we trust ourselves, the easier it become to face the unknown challenges. Learning to depend on yourself is one of the greatest gift adulthood can offer, because it reminded you that your biggest source of strength has been within you all the time.
Because, in the end, we are our own bestfriend.
When facing life's challenges, do you lean more towards seeking external advice or trusting your own intuition first?
Your vote is final.
