Aaj Khane Mein Kya Banayein?

I genuinely believe every household has one question that never gets old, never gets answered permanently, and somehow becomes the biggest discussion of the day:
“Aaj khane mein kya banayein?” 😭
Subah se lekar shaam tak, this question travels through the house like an official announcement. And no matter how many times you ask, nobody seems to have a proper answer.
You ask someone, “Kya khana hai?”
They say, “Kuch bhi bana lo.”
EXCUSE ME? “Kuch bhi” is not a dish. It's not written in any cookbook. Please give me at least one useful suggestion. 😂
Then you suggest aloo ki sabzi.
“Arre, kal hi toh aloo khaye the.”
Okay, fine. Paneer?
“Nahi, aaj kuch simple bana lo.”
Dal chawal?
“Roz roz dal chawal?”
At this point, you realise the problem isn't that there's nothing to cook. The problem is that everyone wants something delicious, different, simple, quick, and preferably prepared by someone else. And the person responsible for cooking is expected to magically know what everyone wants, even when nobody in the house knows what they want themselves.
The funniest part is when someone says, “Mujhe toh jo bana hai woh kha lungi.”
Such a peaceful statement. Such a beautiful lie.
Because the moment the food is served, suddenly there are reviews.
“Thoda namak kam hai.”
“Mirchi zyada hai.”
“Kal wali sabzi better thi.”
Congratulations, MasterChef. Your feedback has been received. Please report to the kitchen tomorrow and prepare the next episode yourself. 💀😂
Then there's the fridge inspection. Someone opens it, looks inside, and announces, “Ghar mein kuch hai hi nahi.”
Meanwhile, the fridge has vegetables, leftovers, milk, curd, and enough ingredients to prepare a decent meal. But apparently, unless there's a ready-made biryani waiting on the top shelf, the house is officially out of food.
And don't forget the magical suggestion that arrives when you're already halfway through cooking:
“Why don't you make something else?”
SOMETHING ELSE? The onions are already chopped. The pan is on the
stove. The entire kitchen is committed to this decision. We cannot simply change the storyline now. 😭
Honestly, deciding what to cook every day deserves its own award. It's not just cooking; it's planning, negotiating, managing opinions, checking ingredients, and trying to create something everyone will eat without complaints.
And somehow, the next day, the same question returns like it never left.
So tell me, what's the one dish your family keeps asking for, and what's the one dish everyone complains about no matter how you make it? 😂
Also, in your house, who answers “kuch bhi” and then rejects every single suggestion? We need to identify these people. 😭
When someone says 'make anything,' you
Your vote is final.

Deciding what to make takes 5 hours. Making a meal takes 2 hours. Eating it takes 10 minutes 😑 I think that the most complex propaganda has to be meal.
Oh my god. Meal planning is such a task. Every morning me and my mom discuss. our discussion is more intense than a debate with Arnab Goswami.
