When the world asked you " Who are you?"

Who are you?

It is such a simple question. Yet it is on Eid the hardest to answer. When someone asked we instictively go for labels.

I am a student.

I am a engineer.

I am a writer.

I am a daughter.

I am a friend.

As if the roles we play are enough to explain the person we are. But one day I wondered what would happen if someone took all of those labels away.

Imagine waking up in a world where no one know your name. Nobody knew your profession and your grades and income and your resume and your followerd and your family and where you came from. No reumse and no awards and no photographs and no titles.

Just you.

Who would you be?

At first the thought terrified mr. Because I realised how much of my identity has becomes tied to the things that could disappear.

A career can change. Grades become meaningless after a few years. Money comes and goes. Beauty fadrs. Even relationship evolve.

If I build my entire identity km things that are temporary then what happens when life inevitably takes some of them away?

I have met people who have lost tejor job and felt as though they have lost their life and lost themselves.

Other who retired and no longer knore who they are without their profession.

Students who believes one examination result defined their whole worth.

It is heartbreaking because we have been taught to introduce ourselves by what we do instead of who we are.

May be that is why do many people have been feeling lost. They are searching for themselves on places where they are never meant to exist.

The older I get the more I believe that identify inst something printed in a business card. It is revealed in ordinary moments.

It is how to treat a waiter when nobody is watching. It is whether you keep your word when breaking is a easy option. It is the kindness you offer people who can do nothing to you in return. It is the courage to admit that you are wrong. It is choosing honestly when lying can save and more convient.

Those things rarely appear on the resume. Yet they tell us far more about a person than any title ever could.

One day out achievements will be forgotten. Someone else will take our job. Another student will get a higher grades. Another person will break our records.

That is just how time works. The people who truly leave a mark in our lives aren't the most successful. They are the ones who make us feel seen. Safe and respected and loved.

Maybe that is who I am. Maybe that iswho you are.
