What lesson do you most want to pass on to…

What lesson do you most want to pass on to someone younger?

It does not matter

When i say this most people dont know what I mean.

When I was younger I cared about my image

I cared about friends

I cared about being a role model

Trying to show myself or prove myself

I wanted to hide what I was going through

I wanted to hide who I was even when I didint exactly know who I was

I wanted to shape my views and ideologies to those around me

But I learned something through all of the disappointment

Through all of the pain the hurt

The blood sweat and tears thought me something simple but freeing

It taught me that it doesnt matter

It doesnt matter what others think. At the end of the day its just you by yourself. No one else matters because you are the one making your choices. You need to be able to look at yourself and the mirror and love who you see and who you are.

Everyone is so self obsessed and we dont realize it. We are so worried about ourselves and how everyone sees us that we dont realize how that means no one actually judges us. I dont care who you are, how you look, what you believe, and how you live your life because it doesnt change me.

You can never be truly happy until you are happy with yourself.

I can say I have never been bullied.....why? Because no one else's opinion matters. I dont need opinions it doesnt benefit me to hear how you see me. I am the one who decides what I let in and keep out.

It doesnt matter. It seems hard to take in this type of thinking but its quite simple. If you are young and in school remember you will never ever see any of those people again so why give them the time of day? Why waste your energy on something temporary because it doesnt matter.

Over time it gets easier. Its freeing to realize that nothing truly truly matters. Its how you perceive it and how you let it effect you. You cant change what has happened and you cant guarantee what happens in your future. You can only control what is happening right here right now. We dont know how long we have so dont let minute dumb things dictate your state of mind and your self worth.

It doesnt matter

When someone younger asks for advice, should you tell them

I really like the deeper meaning behind this. Sometimes we spend so much of our lives trying to fit into other people’s expectations that we forget to actually live for ourselves. I especially agree with the idea that we cannot control how others perceive us, but we can control how much power we give their opinions. Growing up is partly learning that not every opinion deserves a place in our minds. Just one thing I’d add: our feelings do matter, but other people’s judgments don’t have to define us. ❤️
