Walking without a plan
Most of the time, we walk because we have somewhere to go. We walk to college, to the market, to catch the Metro or to Finish a work. Every step has a destination. But every once in awhile, enjoy, going to a walk without any plan at all. I do not need a place to reach or a time to follow. I simply step outside and start walking.
At first, it looks a little unusual. I am so used to working with a purpose that wondering without one almost feel strange. After a few minutes that feeling disappear. I stop thinking about where I am going and start paying attention to what is happening around me. The walk becomes less about reaching somewhere and more about enjoying the journey itself.
I began to notice small things that are usually ignore. I see children playing in a park, people, talking, outs, sites, malls, shops and I’m stray dogs sleeping peacefully in this shade. I notice trees moving sent play with the wind and birds sitting Quietly on electric wires. These are ordinary sites that I pass almost every day, yet I rarely stop to see them when I am in hurry.
Sometime I choose a road that I have never take before. I became curious about where it might lead. Even if it rains, it is familiar place, the experience feels like new because I allowed myself to explore without thinking too much. It reminds me that life does not always need careful planning. Sometime it is okay to let curiosity guide us. Walking, without a plan also gives me time to think without the direction of my phone or the pressure of reaching somewhere quickly. My thoughts become clearer. I think about recent conversation, future colour, memories that suddenly come to mind. At other times, I do not think about anything at all. I simply enjoy being present in the moment.
There are days when I listen to music during my work and there are days when I prefer silence. Both feeling different but both helps me relax. The fresh air the moment and the change of surrounding makes me feel lighter than when I first steeped outside. Even a short walk and improve my mood without me realising it. I have also noticed that working without a direction to each patience. There is no need to rush or check the time every few minutes. I can slow my pace, stop if I find something interesting, as it in a bench for a while. It feels good to let time move naturally instead of constantly trying to keep up with it.
When I finally decide to return home, I often feel refreshed. Nothing extraordinary has happened. Yet my mind feels, and my thoughts feels more organised. It is surprising how something as simple as walk can have such as a positive effect.
This habit has reminded me that not every journey needs a fixed destination. Sometimes the best moments happen when we are simply moving forward, noticing the world around us and allowing ourselves to enjoy the present moment. Walk without a plan may seem ordinary, but it often leaves me with a peaceful mind and grateful heart.
