The unfairness

AnonymousJul 4, 2026Worries & Fears456 words

People love saying "Life is not fair". It is one of the phrases we hear often so much that it has lost it's meaning. But every once in a while life reminds you just how true thoses four worlds really are.

Some children are born into homes filled with love whole others spent their childhood wondering what if feels like to be the hugged without fear. Some people inherit oppertunities even before they can even spell the work oppertunity. Other spend entireives working twice as hard as just to to stand someonle else began. None of us chose the family we are born into, the country that appears in our birth certificate or the circumstances that shape our earliest years. Yet thoses things influence so much the things that follow after that.

Sometimes the kindest people carry the heaviest burdens. The person who is always there for everyone else might me secretly fighting battles that no one can see. The hardest working employee might never get the promotion they deserve. Some one with a heart full of compassion can lose everything while another person who lied or manipulates or exploits seems to be successful without any consequences. If life always rewarded goodness fairly the world would look totally different.

For a long time I struggles with the idea. I wanted to believe that the universe kept the perfect score that every good deed would eventually be repaid and every cruel action would eventually be punished. It would make life easier to understand. It would make suffering feel temporary and justice would feel inevitable. But reality does not always work in the way we want. Sometimes good people lose. Bad people win. Sometimes there is no Satisfying explanation waiting at the end of the story.

Yet I don't think that acknowledging the world's unfairness means become bitter. In fact I think this is the opposite. One you accept that life is not gaurenteed to be fair you stop expecting fairness at every situation. You will begin to appreciate the little good things that happens instead of feeling entitled to it. You stop asking " Why me?" and start to ask "What can I do now?" That shift does not able to rewrite the rules of life but we can decide how we treat the people walking through it us.

Perhaps that is the quiet responsibility of being human. We did not create the inequalities that exists but we have a choice about whether we add them or lessen them. Every action of kindness and every fair decision and every moment of compassion is a small rebellion against the world that often feels indifferent. They may not change everything but they change something. And sometimes something is enough.
