The truth?

Finish this thought: "I used to believe... but now I know..."

I used to believe that this world is fair.

That if you were kind then kindness would find its way back to you. That if you worked hard then success would eventually arraive. That if you loved people sincerely they would love you the same way.

It was a beautiful beleif. It made the world looks safe. Predictable.

As though life followed and invisible set of rules where goodness was always rewarded and cruelty is always punished.

But I know that world doesn't always work like that.

I have learned the same of the kindest people carry the deeper wounds. I have watched honest people struggle while those willing to lie and manipulate seem to move ahead without consequences.

I have seen dreams disappear because of circumstances no one could control.

I have realised that life doens't paise to ask whether someone deserves their sufferings before handing it to them.

That truth makes me angry. It still sometimes does.

Because I want it believe that effort is always enough and that justice always win and that every story eventually gets the ending it deserves.

But reality is often quieter and far less satisfying. Sometime there is no grand explanation n soemtimes bad things happen to good people simply because life can be painfully indifferent.

I used to believe that everyone has good intentions deep down.

Now I know that not everyone deserves limited kindness. Some people will take advantage of you kindness if you never set boundries. Some people would mistake your patience for weakness and your forgiveness as permission and your silence as acceptance. Learning doesn't make me cynical. It made me wiser. Kindness is important but kindness without discernment can become self destruction.

But perhaps the biggest thing I have learned is that acknowledging the world's cruelty does not mean surrendering to it. Yes there is injustice. Yes there is heart break. Yes there wate people who will disappoint you.

But there are also strangers who help without expecting anything in return. There are friends who stayed when life becomes difficult. There are parents who quietly sacrifice their own comfort for their children. There are teachers who changed lives, doctores who save them and ordinary people performing extraordinary acts of kindness that never meakse the headlines.

The world is cruel. That much I know now. But it is not the whole story.

Everyday we decide whether we will add to it or stand against it.

I used to believe the world would protect the goodness. Now I know that it is the goodness that must protect the world.

i think our world is moving towards a more individualistic society… not only in the sense that we prioritise ourselves over others, but also in the sense that we are okay with hurting others to gain what we want :(
