The thin line between growth and failure

I think one of the common misconceptions about life is that every one else is moving faster than you. It doesn't matter where you are at life. There is always someone younger than you who is Smarter, who is better, some one richer, some one more successful and someone who seems to have figured everything out. Social media has made this comparison feel effortless. In just a few minutes of scrolling, you can convince yourself that you are behind in life simply because you are watching other people's highlights while living your own behind the scenes reality.

I have fallen into that trip more time than I can admit. There are days when I look at someone else's achivement and wonder if I am wasting time. May be they are building companjes already while I am still learning. Maybe they are traveling while I am working. May be they are celebrating milestones that still feel far waya for me. It is easy to let those thoughts grow until they drown out everything you have already accomplished.

But then I remembered something that changes my perspective some times. We all begins at different starting lines. Some people inherit oppertunities. Others have to create them from scratch. Some discover their passion at sixteen while other fund it at forty. Some people run a sprint while others are running a marathon. Comparing two completely different journeys as though they gave the same race is unfair to both the people.

The truth is that the progress is often invisible. We celebrate promotions, graduations and achievements because they are easy to see. What we do not celebrate are the hundreds of ordinary days that make the moment possible. The evenings spent studying instead of relaxating. The countless failed interview before recieving one letterm the mornings when someone chose to keep trying despite feeling discouraged. Those quiet moments rarely make into social media yet therebis were real growth happens.

I have started measuring mt life differently. Instead of asking whether I am ahead if someone else, I ask myself am I the same person who I was last year. Am I more patient? Have learned something new? Have I helped more people? Am I getting better at going my responsibility? Have I became kinder? These questions don't always have a dramatic answer but they remind me that growth is not always loud. Sometimes itbis as simple as handling a situation better than you did last year.

Life is not a competition with strangers. It is a conversation with yourself. The goals you had a child are different than the goals you had yesterday. And will be different from the thing you will have years later. We are not meant to stay the same forever. That is not failure. That is the growth.

I do agree with you. we cannot compare our lives with anybody else. every person has a different trajectory. every person has a different journey. it is unique enough not to be compared with anybody.
