The struggle of choosing something to watch
There are days when I decide to relax by watching a movie or a TV show. It sounds like a simple plan, but somehow it turns into a long decision making process. I open Netflix, YouTube or another streaming app thinking I will find something in a few minutes. Instant, I spend more times scrolling, then actually watching anything.
Sometimes I even make tea first, as if a warm cup of tea will somehow help me commit to one choice faster, so I can enjoy the tea with watching something better.
The funny part is that there are thousands of option available. Action, comedy, romantic and horror so there is something for every moon. Still the more choices, I have the harder it becomes to pick just one. I read descriptions watch Trailers Save titles to my watchlist only to keep scrolling again.
Sometimes I finally choose something, watch it for 10 minutes and decide it is not what I was looking for. Then the search begins all over again by the time I find something. I actually enjoy, I have already spent half an hour deciding. It makes me laugh because I could have watched an entire episode during that time.
I have noticed that my moon plays a big role in what I want to watch some days. I want a light comedy that make me laugh other day. I feel like watching a mystery or a documentary. There are also evenings when I just want something familiar so I end up rewatching a movie or series I have already seen many times.
I think this happens because choosing is not always easy. We often worry that if we pick one thing, we might miss something better. It is same feeling we experience in many part of our life too. Many choices can make a less satisfied instead of happier.
One thing I have learned is that the perfect movie show does not always exist. Sometime the best decision is simply to stop scrolling and press play. Even if the movie is not amazing, I still get to relax and enjoy my evening instead of spending it searching for something better.
I also find it funny that I have a watchlist full of movies. I promised myself I would watch one day. Every time I open the app, I ignored that list and continues searching for something new. It feels like making a due to list and then forgetting to look at it.
Overtime, I have started giving myself a simple rule if I cannot decide within a few minutes, I choose the first title that genuinely catches my attention. It saves time and makes the world experience much more enjoyable
The struggle of choosing something to watch may seem like a small problem, but it reminds me of something important. Having endless options does not always make decision easier. Sometimes happiness comes from choosing one thing, enjoying the moment and not Worrying about everything we did not pick. After all, the goal was never to find the perfect movie. It was simply to have a good time.
> This was so relatable that I found myself smiling the whole way through. You captured the irony of spending more time searching than actually watching perfectly. I also liked the broader message at the end—that sometimes happiness comes from simply choosing instead of endlessly chasing the "perfect" option. A simple idea, thoughtfully written.
I can relate to it a lot. Our minds cannot actually dimd anything intresting and wants a race through time to keep it occupied
This is a relatable struggle. we have many options to choose from.
