The sound of wind
Name one small thing from today that you almost missed. Why did it matter?
Today I almost missed the sound of the wind. It was not dramatic and it was not loud. Just a soft breeze moving through the leaves of a tree outside my window. If I had not looked up from what I was doing on my phone I probably would not have noticed at all.
For a few seconds I simply listened. The leaves rustled gently and the birds answered from somewhere near by anr the branches swayed as though they were dancing to the music that only they could hear.
Nothing extraordinary happened. There was not a life changing realization waiting for me. Somehow a tiny moment felt important for me. I realise how much of life passes by while we are looking at something else.
We spend our days chasing deadlines and replying to messages and checking notification and planning tomorrow or worrying about next week and replaying yesterday. Our minds are e almost always somewhere other than where our bodies are. We become so focuseyin reaching the next milestone that we forgot that we are living the journey right now.
The funny thing is that the wind was not asking for my attention. It had been there all along. The trees have been moving whether I notice them or not. The birds had been singing whether I hear them it not. Nature does not wait for the audience. It simply continuous.
Maybe that is why these moments feel so honest. They exist without trying to impress anyone. They exist without trying to impress anyone. I started thinking about all the simple and little things that I overlook everyday.
The smell of fresh tea in the morning. The warmth of sunlight spilling across the floor. The familiar sound of someone laughing in another room. The comfort of wearing and old shirt. They way the sky quietly changes color without demanding to be photographed.
None of these moments ask to become memories. Yet years later they are often the ones we miss the most. I have noticed that the happiest memories from the childhood are not expensive or Carefully and perfectly planned.
They were ordinary. Running outside the rain. Watching the clouds changing the shape. Eating a fruit in a hot afternoon. Falling asleep in the couch and waking up in the bed. Only later thoses moments became priceless.
Maybe life has always worked that way. May be the biggest moments are built from hundreds of tiny one we barely notice.
sensory memories are the best memories. they are linked to simple joys. as we grow up video live that how simple pleasures made the best memories.
