The reel real post

AnonymousJun 10, 2026255 words

I saw a post on Instagram today. It was a normal one with a general background song that I did not notice much. I was looking at the picture. It was a collage of two pictures. Both are same picture but with burry and grey tint on particular places of the picture. It was highlighted in a way that made me stop my doom scrolling and watch that post. To see that post.

The photo had captured a man in his middle age having a shop on the roadside. It was not a big shop. A shop that you could see everyday on the corner of the street. He was selling toys for children. The one that is colorful and bright and make some sounds and stuff.

The caption for the above picture was "What I noticed when I was a kid" and that for the bottom picture was "What I notice now"

He above picture highlights the toys while the bottom picture is highlighted with the man. The man in his ragged clothes and tired body standing on he scorching sun looking at the by passers with quite hope that someone would stopby and buy things from him that would be enough for one meal for his family and the way his hope is having a slow death and being replaced by bitter acceptance and the fear for the future beautifully portrayed in the picture.

That made me stop and wonder. I have grown up haven't I? I have not grown up have I?

The journey from childhood to adultwood changes our perception. unfortunately when we grow up we are no longer attracted to the simple things that we loved as children. we chase very different dreams in our adulthood which are sometimes impossible to achieve. your post made me realise that we should focus more on the simple joys.
