"I realised that sometimes people do not call because they need information or a solution." This line hit me hard. We live in a time where every call is judged by its utility - is it important? is it urgent? can it wait? So we filter calls like we filter emails. But this story is a reminder that some calls are not transactions, they are lifelines. Sometimes a person doesn't call to get something, they call just to make sure they still exist in someone's world. To hear a familiar voice that says "you still matter to me". That old friend wasn't looking for advice, he was looking for a witness to his life. We almost ignore the most important calls because they don't sound important. The biggest regrets are never about the calls we answered, but about the ones we thought we would "call back later" and never did. Answering that one call could be the only light someone needed that day.
