AnonymousJun 17, 2026455 words

Every evening at exactly five o clock and old man sat on the same park bench. Nobody knew him that much. Children called him the Grandpa Bench. Adults simple nodded when they passed. He always wire the same brown cap and carried the same wooden walking stick.

One windy morning a little bit came running into the park crying. His blue which was bright has escaped. The string has snapped and the kite has disappeared into the sky. To most people or was just kite but to the boy or was everything.

It had been a bday gift from his father. The boy searched everywhere. Behind the trees and under the benches and near the pond but found nothing. Eventually he was exhausted and heartbroken and sat beside the old man.

My kite is gone he whispered. The old man looked up the empty sky and then he smile. Let's go and find it the old man said. The boy laughed sadly. "It is gone" he said. "May be but let us look anyways" said the old man

For the next hour they searched. The boy complaintes and the old man joked. The boy list hope but the old man did not. They checked places the places the boy have never considered. The sun was beginning to set when they reached the top of the small hill. There tangled in the branches if a tree was a blue kite.

The boy shouted with joy and the old man carefully claimed onto a low branch and freedom it. The kite was slightly torn but still beautiful. The boy hugged it tightly. Then he hugged the old man. "Thank you " he said. The oldan nodded.

"You know people might stop looking very early sometimes" he said. The boy frowned. What so you mean he asked. "When something important is lost people often give up before they gave truly searched "

Years later the boy would still remember those words. Not because of the kite but because life would make him lose so much things like dreams and oppertunity and relationships and confidence.

And every time he felt like giving up he would remember the old man spent an hour searching for a kite that every one was convinced that it was lost and gone. Some times what we find is not as important as learning not to quit looking.

There will always be the next door to knock and the next exam to get good marks at and another rhood college to join and another job opportunity waiting for you and another person who is made for you waiting. You just have to look for them with patience and with hope. Everything changes with the perspective.
