The museum of memories

What if every person has a person museum? Not a museum of achievements and not tropues and certificates and medals and award but a museum of memories. After you died, people could walk through it.

The first room would not have graduation certificate but it would show the day that you paid for a strangers meal.

The second room would not display their promotion but it would replay the day they sat beside the friend who was falling apart and simply listened.

The third room might contain a memory they never told anyone about.

A moment when they almost have up or a moment when they chose to stay or a moment when nobody was watching and yet they still did the right thing.

I think society would look differently if museums like that existed. We spend so much time building a resume.

But what is our memories became our legacy instead? The brave version and the selfish version and broken version and the hopeful version. The version that cried in the bathroom before pretending everything was fine. The version that kept going away.

Maybe the quiet co - worker would have entire halls dedicated to the people they helped. May be successfully bussinnes would have mostly empty rooms because he spent his whole life chasing things instead of people. Maybe the person who everyone dismissed as ordinary would have the most beautiful museum of all.

Filled with tiny moments. Like making breakfast for their family or like holding a child's hand while crossing a street it checking in Friends and being present and being kind and just being human.

I think we underestimate ordinary goodness bc it does not make headlines.

Nobody write articles about who constantly showed up. Nobody trends on online for being dependable. Nobody bcomesbfamous for quietly loving people well.

But museums if moments existed then those things would matter more than anything g. And honestly? It makes me wonder what my own museum would look like when I am writing this.

Would it be full of memories I am proud of? Would there be rooms that I wish to avoid? Or would there be moments I wish I could remove? Probably.

Because being human means collecting memories and mistakes along side victories. Yet that is the point.

A museum in not valuable because they have the perfect exhibit. It is valuable bc it is honest. Bc it tells the story of what was. Not what should have been.bnot what people pretended it was.

Just the truth. The beautiful part and the ugly parts and everything in between. May be that is why I find the idea comforting. Because one day when all the job titles fade away and social media accounts disappear and achievements became forgotten statistics and something else remains.

The way we treated people and the lives we touched and the moments we created and the kindness we gave them when we did not have to. It I ever get a museum I don't want to have the largest one and I don't want to have the most impressive one. I just want someone to walk through it and leave thinking That person was not perfect but they tried and kept trying. And for me that is the greatest legacy ever to exist.

a trip down the memory lane of someone else's life, such an interesting thought. if at all this idea becomes a reality I would really like to visit my principal's museum. I would like to understand if she was really that strict or she was very gentle at her heart.
