The message I never sent

I found an old chat with someone I used to talk with everyday. They are not my romantic partner. Our conversation ended with an ordinary message about meeting sometime next week. There was no argument and no dramatic goodbye and no particular reason for us to stop talking. We just did.

I scrolled through the messages, laughing at terrible jokes and rememberjng how I used to tell that person thinks before telling everyone else. I almost sent a message easking how they were but suddenly years of silence felt like something I could cross.

What would I even say? Would they be happy to hear from me or would I be interrupting a life that had moved on perfectly well without me?

I know how this feels. We try to go back down the memory lane to figue out the exact moment when a friend became stranger and surprisingly there is no reason for it. It just happened right before our eyes. It hurts a lot and we keep thinking that maybe we said something wrong or did something bad to push them away from us 😭

This one hurts in a different way because there was no big reason, just life slowly making you strangers. No fight to blame, no closure to hold onto. Finding that old chat and seeing how close you used to be and then that lyric, from people you know to people you don't, it really sums it all up. I felt this deeply.

Not every connection ends with a goodbye; sometimes, life simply gets in the way. ❤️ If someone once made your days a little brighter, a simple “Hey, how have you been?” might be worth sending. Some connections deserve a second hello, even after years of silence. 🥹✨
