The last of everything

AnonymousJun 24, 2026511 words

A few years form now, someone ei say your name for the last time. Not in dramatic way and not in a movie scene. Not with music playing in the background. It will just be casually. Ordinaryly. Like every tiger conversation. And neither of you will know that this will be the last time.

I think about things like that sometimes mvhke much of life passes without announcing its importance. We always imagine meaning full moments will feel different. Like bigger and loundrt and more obvious. But they rarely do. Most meaningful moments arraive disguised as ordinary days. A random conversation. A shared meal. A walk home. A laugh that lasts a little longer than usual. And then years passed.

People move away. Circumstances change and life drifts in different direction. And suddenly those ordinary moments becomes treasure. I recently an old photograph buried inside my phone. It was not a special occasion and nobody was posing. Not one person was trying to create a memory. It was just a random day.

Friends sitting together and talking nonsense. Laughing at the jokes that I cannot remember now. At that time the photo felt unimportant. Today it feels precious. Not because the picture is extraordinary. But because the moment was gone. I think that's what makes the life more beautiful.

It has the temporary nature. A sunset is beautiful because it does not satu. Cherry blossoms are beautiful because they fall. Childhood is beautiful because it ends.

If everything lasts forever would we appreciate it? Probably not. Human beings have a strange relationship with permeanence.

We chance it constantly and we want people to stay. Moments to stay... happiness to stay. Youth to stay. Yet some of the world's greatest gift exist because they are not permenent.

The seasons change. The years move forward. People grow. While that can be painful, it gives our life meaning. Imaging reading a book eith no ending. Watching a movie that is never finished. Listening to a song that never stopped.

Eventually even beautiful things lose their magic when they become Endless. Life works because every chapter gives way to another.

Sometimes I think we spend too much time waiting for perfect moments. Waiting until we are successful. Waiting until we are happy. Waiting until life finally begins. Meanwhile life is already happening. Right now in the middle of unfinished goeals and in middle or uncertainty and in middle of ordinary Tuesday's.

The truth is that one day you will miss all the things that seems insignificant. The route you take to work. The messages from friend. The sound of some one laughing in another room. The way your family gathers for a holiday. The comfort of knowing certain people are only a phone call away.

One day these things will belong to a memory. And memory has a way of turning ordinary things to gold. May be that is why I have been trying to pay more attention lately. To linger a little longer and to appreciate the things before nostalgia teaches me their value.

We give so much important to the "firsts" but the "lasts" deserve more recognition.
