The handwritten correction

My colleague returned my report today covered in handwritten corrections. My first reaction was embarrassment. I had spent hours on it and through I had done a good job. Then I noticed that she had explained every change carefully instead of simply marking my mistakes. She even added a note saying the overall idea was strong. I thanked her, although I felt uncomfortable admitting how much I needed the help. Later, I used her suggestions and produced a much better version. I realised that being corrected doesn't necessarily mean being judged. Sometimes someone takes the trouble because they believe your work is worth improving.
