The group photo

I almost asked my friend to delete the group photo we took today. Everyone looked lovely and I was standing at the edge smiling awkwardly already noticing evening I disliked about myself.
Later she sent me another picture from the same evening. I was in the background, laughing at something nobody had posed for. My hair was messy, my eyes were half closed and I looked nothing like the version I usually try to present.
But I looked happy. I stared at that picture longer than I expected. I spend too much time worrying about how I appear to other people that I rarely notice when I am actually enjoying myself. Maybe the moments we are most desperate to hide are sometimes the ones we will wish we could revisit.
❤️ 3🤝 1
I really felt this. That awkward feeling of standing at the edge and already disliking everything about yourself before anyone else even sees the photo, I think a lot of us have been there. But honestly, group photos are never about who looked perfect, they are about that moment you all were together on that street at night. I'm sure in that picture you look just as lovely as everyone else, we are always our own harshest critics. Please don't delete it, someday you'll look back at this evening and smile at the memory, not at how you looked.
I can understand. The pics were we are truly happy look amazing. They are much better than those where we are pretending to be happy, calm, content, and perfect which we are not in reality. Any picture if makes you happy then that is the best picture of you.
Sometimes, the most beautiful pictures are the ones we never planned. ❤️ We get so caught up in looking perfect that we forget to enjoy being present. Maybe happiness was never about looking flawless, but about forgetting to worry how we look. 🥹✨
