Her name was Mira.

For most of her life. Mira hadbeen very good at being usefulnand very bad at being kind to herself.

She knew how to help everyone else. If a friend needed advise. She was there . If someone needed notes, she shared them. It her family needed something she early complained. She could remember everyone's problems while somehow forgetting that she had problems too.

People called her strong. She hated that word. Because strength to Mira, had slowly becomes another responsibility.

She thought she had to be capable all the time. She couldn't disappoint people. Whenever something went wrong, her first question wasn't,"why did this happen?" It was, "what did I do wrong?. She had a strange relationship with mirrors.

She didn't necessarily hate her appearance. She hated everything she believed her appearance represented. Not successful enough. Not enough" Not confident enough.

Not accomplished enough , Not interesting enough. There was always another version of herself she believed she should became. So she kept improving. New goals New routines..

New plans . New attempts to become someone she would finally become proud of. But the finish line kept moving. One evening after a particularly terrible day. Mira sat on the floor of her bedroom and opened an old notebook.

Inside were lists she had written years earlier. Things she wanted to achieve. Things she wanted to fix. Things she disliked about herself. The list was longer than she remembered. She stared at if for a long time and suddenly realized something uncomfortable. She had spent years treating herself like a problem that needed to be solved. Every mistake became evidence.

Every failure because a character flaw. Every insecurity became something she needed to hide.

She has been trying to earn her own approval. And she was exhausted. That night, she didn't make another plan, she didn't promise to become better tomorrow. She simply wrote one sentence.

"I am tired of being at war with myself".

It wasn't a dramatic transformation

The next morning . She still compared herself to people. She still overrhought conversations. She still has days when she disliked herself.

But something has changed. She stopped treating those feelings as proof that she was broken. When she failed. She stopped immediately insulting herself.

When she needed rest. She stopped calling herself lazy. When someone didn't choose her. She stopped automatically assuming it meant she wasn't worth choosing.

Slowly, she learned that self-love wasn't waking up everyorning and adminning herself. Sometimes it was much less impressive It was eating when she was hungry sleeping when she was exhausted. Walking away from people who repeatedly hurt her.

Saying no without writing an essay to justify it. Forgiving herself for things she had already learned from. Allowing herself to be ordinary without feeling like she has failed. Years later Mira found the old notebook again . She read those cruel lists and almost laughed. Not because they were funny.

Because she couldn't understand why she had believed she needed to earn the right to exist comfortably inside her own life . She closed the notebook. She still wasn't perfect, She still had insecurities. She still has bad days.

But for the first time, she wasn't trying to escape herself. She had finally learned something simple. She was going to have to live with herself for the rest of her life. So she decided to stop making that life hostile.
