The Fear of Trusting Again

I think one of the hardest things in life is learning how to trust people again after someone has given you a reason not to. It’s strange how one experience can completely
change the way you look at people. You could once be someone who believed every word, trusted easily, and never questioned someone’s intentions. But after getting
hurt, even the simplest things start feeling complicated. It’s not that you suddenly stop wanting genuine connections. In fact, you probably want them more than ever. You want people you can talk to without overthinking every sentence, people whose words you don’t have to question, and relationships where
you don’t constantly feel the need to protect yourself. But something inside you just doesn’t allow you to be as carefree as you once were.
You start noticing everything. The smallest change in someone’s behaviour, a different tone, an unexpected silence, or a promise that doesn’t get fulfilled. You begin analysing situations that you would have never thought twice about before. Sometimes, you even question people who have done absolutely nothing wrong, simply because someone else once made you feel like trusting was a mistake. And honestly, that’s the most exhausting part. You know that not everyone is the same.
You know that one person’s actions shouldn’t define everyone you meet. But knowing something and actually being able to believe it are two completely different things.Sometimes, when someone is genuinely kind, you find yourself wondering what they want in return. When someone says they won’t leave, a part of you automatically prepares for the possibility that they might. Even when things are going perfectly fine, your mind finds a way to remind you that good things can change without warning. You don’t necessarily want constant reassurance, but consistency means everything to you. You pay attention to actions more than words because you’ve
learned that beautiful promises don’t always come with genuine intentions. And maybe that’s why you become distant sometimes. Not because you don’t care, but because caring makes you feel vulnerable. You want to let people in, but you’re scared of giving someone the opportunity to hurt you in the same way again.
The difficult thing about broken trust is that it doesn’t always disappear when the person leaves. Sometimes, they move on with their lives, while you’re still trying to understand how to feel safe around people again. But I don’t want to spend my entire life assuming everyone will disappoint me. I don’t want my past experiences to decide what my future relationships look like. I want to believe that there are still people whose words match their actions, people who understand the importance of honesty, and people who don’t make you regret being genuine.I’m slowly learning that trust doesn’t have to be given all at once. It can be built gradually, through little actions, honesty, andconsistency.Maybe I’ll never be as blindly trusting as I once was, and perhaps that’s okay. I just hope I don’t become so afraid of getting hurt that I forget how beautiful it can be to have someone worth trusting.Because at the end of the day, I don’t have a problem with trusting people.
I just wish trusting someone didn’t feel so risky anymore.
When someone shows you kindness, do you
Your vote is final.
now a days trust in someone becomes a big deal you can't trust even your friend completely
Beautifully expressed. Healing shouldn’t mean losing the ability to trust. ❤️
every one is different, some people might come to gain something, another come to provide you many things. Just learn to differentiate between these people.
