The day I stopped racing everyone
for a long time I thought that life is race. I didn't know who started it. I didn't know what the finishing line was. I didn't know when I started to understand there.
But I was constantly running. Someone always got a better score and I felt left behind. Some one else got an internship and I questioned my whole progress. Some one else got a job and suddenly my efforts seems insignificant. Some one else in my age is making more money than I made or travelling more kr building Something impressive or simply looking happeir online and I immediately felt as though I was losing.
The worst part eas that most of these people had no idea who I was competing with. I was racing people who had never agreed to race with me. Social media made it worse.
Everytime I opened my phone I saw someone seems to achieve something more than I can ever achive. A new job. A new relationship or a new house or a new achivement.
I was looking at the highlights of their lives and comparing them to the unfinished and uncertain parts of mine.
It was na unfair competition. And I kept participating.
I think I finally understood how exhausting it was when I realised that I wasn't even enjoying my win progress anymore.
Even my achivements become temporary. I would accomplish something and feel happy for few minutes and then immediately find someone who did it better that something bigger than me.
There was always someone ahead. There always will be. That was the problem.
One day I asked a simple question. What exactly am I trying to win? I didn't have an answer.
Because the truth is everyone is running a different race. Some have oppertunity I never recieved. Some started earlier. So are delaimg with problems nobody can see. Some are pretending to be successful while quietly falling apart.
Am I am doing the same thing from the other side. Someone might be looking at my life and feeling behind without knowing the things I struggle with. We all are complaing incomplete information.
Eventually I realized that the only eprosk I can fairly compare myself with us the person I used to be.
And even that comparison needs to be handled carefully. Sometimes progress is obvious. Sometimes it is simply suricung a difficult period without becoming a worse veriosn of yourself. Sometimes it is learning something new. Skemtime is trying again after failure
it’s true whenever I accomplish something I get so happy then later I find someone else got something better I see their families they all are happy I start judging myself if just I would’ve done a bit more maybe I would’ve make my parents more proud they would’ve got more happy I start feeling useless and lose all the hopes
it is true that life is a race. however we are never thought that the race is not with any other person. the race is with ourselves. we should beat our own personal records. each day we should become a better version of ourself.
