The Beauty of Small Progress

We often think progress has to look like something big. We imagine reaching a major goal, changing our life completely, or finally becoming the person we have always wanted to be. Because of this, we sometimes overlook the little things we do every day. Getting out of bed on a difficult morning, choosing to try again after failing, speaking kindly to ourselves, or simply making it through a day that felt heavy can all be forms of progress. Not every change is obvious from the outside. Sometimes, growth happens quietly, without anyone noticing. You might realize that something that once broke your heart does not hurt as much anymore, or that you no longer feel the need to explain yourself to everyone. Maybe you have started setting boundaries, trusting yourself, or walking away from things that disturb your peace. These small changes may not feel important in the moment, but they slowly shape the person you become. We often make the mistake of comparing our progress to someone else’s. When we see someone achieving their dreams, it is easy to feel like we are standing still. But we rarely know what their journey looked like before we saw the results. Everyone has different circumstances, different struggles, and different timelines. Your progress does not become less meaningful simply because someone else is moving faster. There will also be days when you feel like you have gone backwards. You might lose motivation, make an old mistake, or find yourself struggling with something you thought you had already overcome. That does not mean all your progress has disappeared. Growth is
rarely a straight line. Sometimes you take two steps forward and one step back, and that is still movement. What matters is that you keep showing up for yourself. You do not need to completely transform your life overnight. Start with something small. Drink the water you have been ignoring, finish the task you kept postponing, take a walk, clean your room, write down your thoughts, or simply give yourself permission to rest. Small choices repeated over time can create changes we never imagined. Maybe progress is not about becoming a completely different person. Maybe it is about becoming a little more comfortable with who you already are. So, do not underestimate the small steps. One day, you might look back and realize that those tiny changes were the reason everything eventually became different.
Healing can feel lonely because nobody else can completely understand the parts of you that you are trying to put back together. There may be days when you think you are
finally okay, only to wake up missing someone or feeling the weight of an old memory again. That does not mean you are back at the beginning. Healing has never been a straight line. Sometimes, progress looks like crying less. Sometimes, it looks like no longer checking their profile, no longer waiting for an apology, or finally accepting that you may never get the closure you wanted. And sometimes, healing is simply choosing not to hurt yourself by going back to something that already broke you. One day, you may notice that you are laughing genuinely again, enjoying ordinary moments without thinking about what you lost. You may still remember, but the memory will no longer control you. And perhaps that is what healing really is—not becoming the person you were before you got hurt, but becoming someone who knows how to carry their past without letting it decide their future.

a meaningful friendship means a place where you can completely be and build yourself. it is trust, understanding, shared memories and pure love.
Progress does not have a universal definition. It is up to an individual to decide what they consider to be the progress for themselves. It could be money, power, position, growth, or healing. Progress does not need validation from the world. In my opinion healing ourselves is the highest level of progress.
