The battle between me and my snooze button
Every morning begins with the same better. My alarm rings, I open one eye and without even thinking my finger automatically reach for the snooze button. It has become such a habit that sometime I press it before I am even fully awake. In the moment, those extra five or 10 minutes, feel more valuable than anything else. It feels harmless yet it quietly steals my best intentions.
The funny part is that I always leave. Those few exterminate will make a huge difference of. I tell myself just five more minutes. But those five minute become 10 than 15 and before I know it, I am rushing to get ready. It is a circle that repeat more often than I would like to admit. I have tried many tricks to stop this habit. I have placed my phone on the other side of the room. Change my alarm tone and even set multiple alarms of few minutes apart. For a few days, these ideas work. Then somehow I find a new way to convince myself that sleeping a little longer is best decision.
I always imagine that my future self will wake up feeling refreshed after dressing nose. The reality is usually the opposite. Instead of feeling more Rested, I wake up feeling even sleep here. Then I wonder why I did not just get out of the bed when the first alarm rang.
Despite the dairy struggle, I cannot completely blame the snooze button sometime. It reminded me that my body is simply tired. Busy schedule, late night, scrolling or staying awake to finish work often leave me wanting just a little more sleep. The snooze button is not always the problem sometime my routine is.
On the day, when I actually wake up with the first alarm, everything feel different. I have enough time to get ready without rushing, eat breakfast peacefully, and begin the day with a calm mind. Those morning remind me that starting the day without panic feels much better than stealing a few extra minutes of sleep.
The battle with the snow button is really a battle between comfort and discipline. One part of me wants to stay under the warm blanket while the other knows that getting up on the time will make the rest of the day easier. Some morning comfort wins and other morning disciplines does. It depends on which voice I choose to listen to.
I do not think I will ever completely stop loving the snooze button. It has become a funny part of my morning routine, but I also know that every time I resist pressing it, I start my day with a small victory. It may seem like a tiny achievement, but small habit often shaped the rest of our day.
Every morning, the alarm rings and the battle begins again. Someday I win and someday the snooze button with. But one thing is Permanent that I will probably keep telling myself just five more minutes, even though I already know how the story usually ends.
Relatable and engaging. The snooze button becomes a thoughtful metaphor for comfort versus discipline, ending with a simple truth that resonates with everyday life.
This is so relatable...the thing is that I know that I can have a peaceful morning routine if I dint hit that snooze but that 19 mins of extra sleep is sometimes worth the rush
This is a daily struggle I know all too well. It’s wild how our half-asleep brains can easily outsmart every single trick we try just to steal a few extra minutes.
