Tax filing

The time between me and July every year is really frustrating to me. It is frustrating because of the formalities that we need to complete to file our income tax for the financial year. I had been working for over 17 years. I still find it very annoying to go through all the formalities every year to file the income tax. Every year I always think why the procedures cannot be simplified?

First complication starts with receiving the forms from the organisation. Every year I have to struggle to get the forms released by the HR. Once the forms are received I have to send them to my chartered accountant for calculation of the income tax. Once the figure is a received from the chartered accountant I have to see whether I am going to get refund or I have to pay additional tax. If there is an additional tax to be paid my headache increases even further. But let me tell you the story from this year how frustrating it is.

My company had declared that they are not going to release the forms because the form at of the forms has been changed. The chartered accountant is after me that they need the forms for a tax calculation. So here I am getting the heat from both ends. I provided him the professional form so that they can proceed with the tax calculation. As I have received the tax calculation apparently I have to pay a little additional tax this year.

I locked on to the portal to pay the tax. When I opened the portal that is when I realised that I do not remember the password. I tried to reset the password. Every time I would type the password it would say that this password was already taken. I ran out of all the ideas for the password creation. Finally I came up with a password which got accepted. I feel like I have one a battle. A battle between the machine and the humans and this time humans have won that battle. If only this was true.

I had received all the notifications that I was successfully able to change the password. Now glorious me wants to login to the portal so that I can go ahead and pay the taxes like a Queen. As I tried to log in, I entered my user id and password, it showed me an error "Invalid password". The password definitely was neither invalid nor incorrect. It was the same one that I had entered a couple of minutes ago and it was accepted. But apparently that was not the case. I had not won the battle. It properly was a trojan horse, which deceived me with a sense of victory. I tried again but the same error appear it this time. I immediately called up my Chartered Accountant to ask what should I do. They said these errors are common and I should try after sometime or maybe on a weekday. So the frustration continuous to build up. I will not be able to get done with this complicated miss of taxes today. I will need to carry the weight of this task to the next week. This is the struggle of a salaried person every year. Each year I go through the same mess thinking that next year will be better. What I have no test in last 18 years that it never gets better.
