Soaked birthday

I was born in July. My mother tells me a story that when I was born it was raining very heavily. A lot of my relatives could not visit the nursing home because of the heavy rain. Well every birthday I hear this story because every birthday it rains very heavily.

I specifically remember one of my birthdays there the rain was the spoil spot. I watch 8 years old. That year my birthday fell on a Sunday. My parents had made a grand plan for the day. All my close relatives worry invited to my home to celebrate my birthday. I woke up early in the morning. I was very excited for my birthday. Me and my dad went out to get the birthday cake. In the cake shop I selected the cake which I liked the most. When my dad told the shopkeeper that it was my birthday he had given me a pastry as a birthday gift. I was delighted to receive such a nice gift. I found the gestured to be at sweet as the pastry. We returned home with the cake.

My mother was busy preparing meal for the guests. I was so happy and I was grinning from ear to ear. I was eager to meet all my cousins, ants, and uncles. I was anticipating that it was going to be a great day. But something unfortunate happened.

At 10 o'clock in the morning it's started raining heavily. Within few minutes the roads got flooded. The rain had not stopped for 2 hours. The guest were supposed to come for lunch to celebrate my birthday. But none of them could leave their house because of the heavy rain. At 12 o'clock I received a call from my grandmother. She wished me on my birthday and informed that she would not be able to come to our house because of the rain. I felt a little sad yet I completely understood her situation. Grandmother was old and it was not appropriate for her to travel in rain.

Sometime later I received calls from my uncles and aunts informing me that because of the heavy rain they would not be able to come to the birthday celebration. Each call made me more disappointed. The last call received around 1 in the afternoon. My youngest and told me that she and my cousins could not come because of the heavy rain. This call made me really sad and disappointed. I started crying. I was expecting a nice celebration with my family members. But none of the guest work attending my birthday. I was so sad that I did not even want to cut the birthday cake. My parents consoled me and told me to cut the birthday cake and have a small celebration at my home.

While crying I cut my birthday cake and distributed it among my parents and sister. I was so sad and disappointed that I decided next your own words we should not call anybody for the birthday. The anticipation was making me happy but the disappointment devastated me.

It was the birthday that got completely washed out in rain. Even every year when I cut the birthday cake I still remember that birthday. It still brings tears to my eyes because of the sad memories. That birthday taught me that I should not depend on anybody for my happiness.

How would you have handled this birthday washout?

This brought back a memory I didn’t even realize I still carried. Sometimes birthdays don’t go the way we imagine, but years later we remember who stayed beside us. I hope that rainy birthday eventually became a story that makes you smile.”

it is difficult not to cry on an emotional note such as this, but emotional as it is, the post is diadactic. it makes one think about how much self love and sufficiency matters and how reachable it would make happiness if it depended on things that matter and things that are worth it.
