Rainy evening

There is something about a rainy evening that makes everything Feels a little different. The same road, houses and shops that looks completely normal during the day. Suddenly seems quieter when it start raining. Even the usual sound of traffic becomes softer under the sound of raindrops.

The rain started in the evening when I was not really expecting it. The sky had been cloudy for sometime, but I thought it would probably pass without training. Then I heard a few drops against the window. Within a few minutes, The raining start heavier and I Found myself going near the window, just to watch it.

I like watching rain from inside the house. I was not always a fan of getting completely wet outside, specially when I have somewhere to go, but watching it from a comfortable place is different. There is something peaceful about being indoors while everything outside is getting wet.

The roads look shiny because of the water. The lights from cars and shops reflected on the wet streets, making everything looks shiny brighter. People were walking quickly with umbrella, while someone trying to find shelter wherever they could. A few people seemed to completely unpoured and continue walking in the rain.

I also noticed how the temperature changed. Before the rain, the evening felt warm and slightly uncomfortable. Once it started raining, the year become cooler, I opened the window for a while, and the fresh smell that come with the rain made the room feels different. I stayed there longer than I had planned.

At some point, I made myself a cup of tea. It feels like obvious thing to do. Sitting near the window with the while listening to the rain is probably one of the easiest way to make an ordinary evening feel nice. I did not even feel like watching anything on my phone. I just wanted to sit there for a while.

The rain also made me think about how quickly our plans can change. If I had planned to go somewhere that evening, probably would have had to change everything. Rain can be inconvenient, specially when you have somewhere important to be. But when there is nowhere urgent to go, it feels all moves like a free excuse to slowdown.

I spend some time listening to the rain and doing absolutely nothing. Normally, I feel like I should always be doing something useful when I have free time. But that evening, I did not feel guilty about just sitting there.

After a while, the rain become lighter. The roads were still wet, and there was small puddles everywhere. People slowly started moving around again, the whole place seemed to be returning to normal.

I know it was just a ordinary rainy evening. Nothing special happened and I did not do anything exciting. Still, I enjoyed it. Maybe that is what I like about rain. It can take an ordinary evening and make it feel a little slower and more peaceful without really changing anything else.
