Phones near me

It happened a couple of years ago. I believe it was in the year 2020.

Due to COVId-19 pandemic I had been working from home. It was the new way of working and nobody was yet acquainted with it. Everyone was trying to understand and adapt to this new way of working. It included not only the working professionals but also there is families.

In my case my parents were still not able to cope up with my way of working. They would come and ask me questions even though I would be in meetings. Another thing that they would to would absolutely annoy me is to keep their mobile phones near me while I would work. I had no idea why would they do that. Why should mobile phones of the entire family should be kept near me. But there was one incident which made me Furious and take action.

It was an evening. I had a very important meeting with my client. I need it to be the main speaker of that meeting and was a given the responsibility to provide the main presentation. I was completely prepared for that meeting. I had prepared this light take in advance and had read through multiple times. I had made notes of the points that I was supposed to highlight. Additionally I had kept my headset on. I had put my phone on silent mode. I wanted no distractions in this meeting.

The meeting started. I greated the client and started sharing my screen to show them the presentation. I was going through each and every slide and explain in them the important aspects of that presentation. I felt that I was in control and the presentation was going on really great. But then something unexpected happened. I heard allowed ringtone. It was my mother's phone that was ringing. I had a completely forgot that my parents on work near my workplace. I watch a furious at that time. This one mistake could have ruined the entire presentation. I did not want to react because I was on the camera and my reaction would be viewed by major stakeholders.

To smoothen out the matter I apologize to the client and continued with the presentation. After that I continued with the remaining presentation. While I was including presentation the phone rang again. This time my anger was unbearable. I made and excuse for the network issue, switch off the mic and the camera, I got up from my place and took my parents phones in my hand. I seitched off both phones and kept them in the drawer. I did not want any further destructions and disturbance is in my meeting.

I got back to my desk and switch on the mic and camera. Ilide to my client that I had fixed the network issue and was back online. IPS fully concluded the presentation and answer all the questions that my client had. I had the most peaceful 30 minutes of my time in the meeting. I was intellited because despite of disturbance is I was able to successfully deliver a really good meeting.

Adds the meeting got over I the phones out of the world and switched them on. After that I had taken the phone to my parents and instructed them to keep their phones with them and not around me. The had not known that there phones were switch off for last 30 minutes. I never told them as well. They had received a quite of you messages from other relatives that they were trying to reach them but their phones were switch off. I believed that it was an important lesson for my parents to be mindful of my working surroundings.
