Not All Bonds Stay the Same

AnonymousJun 29, 2026584 words

There was a time when i had a friend who was extremely close to me, someone who slowly became more like a family than just a friend. We spent a lot of time together and over time she became important part of my daily life. My faimly also knew her well ans she would often visit my house. It started feeling completely normal to have her around all the time and people around us even used to say we behaved like sisters. We shared almost everything with each others like our thoughts, small secrets, clothes and ever dreams about the future. At that point in life, I generally brief that friendship would always stay the same, and I never really thought it would change.

But slowly, over time I started noticing small shifts in the way things were between us. Conversations didn’t feel as easy as before and there were moments where she Seemed uncomfortable or upset when I talk to other people or when something could happen in my life. At first, I ignored these signs because I did not want to overthink something i care about so deeply. I still consider her very close or most like a sister, so I keep hoping things would naturally go back to how they were. But inside, I started feeling confused because I couldn’t clearly understand what was changing between us.

As time passed, The distance between us become more visible. I continued trying to maintain the friendship the same way i always had because i didn’t want to lose it but It did not feel the same anymore. There were moment when i felt like i was trying more than i was receiving yet i still held on because of how important she was to me, Eventually situation happened involving a boy she liked was turned into misunderstanding between us. I had no connection to it and did not even really know the person, but somehow it become a serious issue in our friendship. A boy become important than our friendship that moment create a shift that I could clearly feel afterwards, even if nothing was said directly at first.

After that, things become more complicated, some personal thing I had shared earlier in trust somehow reached other people and that really affect me. I felt uncomfortable and exposed because I never expected something like that from someone i trust so deeply and blindly it was difficult for me to process everything at once, because I had always seen her as someone very close and safe in my life. Slowly, I begin to withdraw and tried to understand what had actually gone wrong between us, even though I didn’t have clear answers but this time i just stepped back with maturity as I don’t want a backstabber in my life.

With time, I started reflecting on the situation more calmly. I realised that sometimes friendships don’t remain the same even when they feel very strong in the beginning as some people don’t deserve your honesty and loyalty in relationships and dont even value relations like you do. People can change, emotions can change and not everything continues the way we imagine it to..

This experience taught me alot about trust, boundaries and expectations in relationships. Even though it was a painful phase, it also helped me see friendships in more realistic way and understand that not every bonds stays forever as everything is temporary in our life, no matter how strong it once felt.

I understand the pain that you are going through. it hurts when a friend becomes family and later becomes a stranger again. it hurts even more than a stranger steps into a relationship making it break. it hurts when friendship ends because of a stranger. stay strong and you will come out of it.
