No pens

For a very long time after completion of my education I did not required then or pencil to write on anything. When I was in school and college I had several pens in my bag as well as at home. I would never run out on pen or pencil during my student years. But now this situation has changed.

In my first company we were forbidden to write anything down on a paper. It was one of the rules of privacy and security. No information should go from the computer to outside. We were strictly told that we should not carry not bad or pin in the office. If anybody it's a carrying pen or not bad then there will be a strict action taken against them. This is what shaped me. We were told to not everything on the notepad application within our computers. I did so. I used to take elaborate notes on the notepad application. For me this habit continued even later.

In my next organisation there was no restriction on you said of notepad or pen. But the habit that was ingrained continued. When I put go for any meetings I would not carry pen and paper. When I would go to any meetings I would carry my laptop along with me. People used to get surprised why I carry a laptop to all the meetings. I would take the notes on my laptop and by the time the meeting would end my meeting minutes would be ready. While others took 3 to 4 hours to prepare the meeting minutes my meeting minutes would be ready within 15 minutes after the meeting. This was one advantage of carrying the laptop to the meetings. It was efficient for preparation of the meeting minutes. And also I could post that I work paperless. It was all fun and games until I really required paper and pen.

When I started working as a freelancer I started working from home. There over time so when I required to take notes while still working on my computer. When there were restrictions on toggling between the apps I would have great difficulty to take notes. I would struggle with making notes of anything. This is when idealife that I should have a physical notepad and a pen so that I can take notes. Finding a piece of paper and notepad was easy. But finding a working pen in my home was a big task.

I started searching all the cabinets and drawer to find a pen. I would find one pen which had no ink in it. Another pen would have a missing part because of which it was not functioning. Then there will be another pen which would show that the ink is full but since it was not use for a very long time it has now dried. So again it was useless. Likewise I found over 50 pens in my house. None of those were working and hence were not useful. I fell so frustrated that a home cannot even have a single working pen.

This is reality of most of the houses. If there is no student in the house there will not be a functioning pen. When I needed a pen I had to find my entire house for it and still did not find it. I had to go shopping to buy a pen. So this was my reality. Women who wanted to go paperless now struggles to find a pen. This is me and educated women who still does not have a pen to write.
