My love-hate relationship with alarms
Every morning begins with the sound of an alarm. It is probably one of the most similar sound in my daily life. Someday I appreciate it because it helps me wake up on time. Other days, I wish I could turn it off and sleep for a few more hours. That is why I feel like I have love Hate relationship with.
When the alarm rings early in the morning, my first reaction is almost always same. I close my eyes a little tight, pull the blanket over myself, and think “just five more minutes”. Those five minutes, usually feel more comfortable than getting out of bed. Sometime, I even set multiple alarm because I know I will ignore the first one. It has become a funny habit that I am sure many people can relate to. Even though I complain about alarms, I know they play an important role in my life. Without them, I would probably miss classes, appointments or important task. They help me stay organised and remind me that every new day brings new responsibility. As much as I dislike hearing that sound in the morning, i also know it helps me build discipline.
I have noticed that my relationship with alarms also depend on how I feel about the day ahead. If I am excited about something, waking up early much easier, even sometime, I did not even sleep at night because I’m too excited for the day. The alarm feels more like a reminder than interruption, but on days when I feel tired or unmotivated, the same sound feels much louder, more annoying. It is interesting how the alarms never change, but my feeling about it do.
Over time, I have learned that the hardest part is not hearing the alarm. The hardest part is making the decision to get out of bed. Once I stand up, wash my face and start my morning, everything feels easier. It is those first few minutes that require most effort. They remind me that anything in life begin with a small decision.
Sometimes I think the alarm represent more than just waking up. It reminded me that life keeps moving forward. Every morning gives me an another chance to learn something, complete a task or simply have a better day than yesterday. Even if I feel sleepy, the alarm is quietly encouraging me to begin again.
I know, I will probably continue complaining about alarm for a long time. I will still press the snooze button now, and then, and I wish I could sleep little longer. But I also know that I would miss them if they were not there. They help me stay on track, even when I do not feel like getting up.
My love-hate relationship with alarm will probably never change completely. Some morning i will thank them and other mornings i will wish they had stay silent. But in the end, they are a small part of my daily routine that keeps me moving towards my goal, one morning at a time.

“I laughed because it’s true, but then I realized alarms have somehow become the soundtrack to chasing our goals. We hate hearing them, yet we’d probably miss them if they stopped ringing. Really enjoyed this read
