My first day in a corporate internship

My first day at my corporate internship and it was a mix of excitement and nervousness. I woke up earlier than usual because I did not want to Be late or forget anything important. I check my outfit one last time, my notebooks and with my thoughts in my mind, I had imagine this day many times so finally being there or feels excited and scary as I entered the office. I noticed how busy everything was, people were walking between rooms, keyboard clicking everywhere, and there was the smell of fresh coffee in the air.. Everything felt very different from college and I knew this was the beginning of a completely new experience. To my surprise, I was the youngest one in the office and it feels like I am not good enough to be here.

My supervisor welcomed me with a warm smile, which immediately made me feel more comfortable. He showed me around the office, introduce me to the team and explain where everything was. I was given my own desk, a laptop and a short introduction to the company. Everyone look busy, but they were also friendly, even whenever I spoke to them.even through. I was no one made me feel out of place and that helped me relax. After that, the first half of the day was About learning, we went through the companies basic rule the tools they use every day and a short overview of project the team is currently working on. I also got the chance to sit with director during our team meeting. I quietly listen as everyone discussed, deadline and future task. It made me realise that this was very different from classroom assignment. The work here had real importance and every discussion had a purpose. I kept writing notes because I did not want to miss anything by lunch. My mind was already full of new information, but I was not that happy to be here because. everyone was so talented and experienced that made me feel like I am nothing but I was happy to be learning their.

During lunch, I met another intern in the cafeteria. We talked while eating, and it was nice to know that I was not the only one feeling a little nervous. We laughed about how confusing that first day was and shared our experience for the internship that short conversation made me feel more comfortable because it reminded me that everyone starts somewhere.

In the afternoon, I was given my first small task. I had to organise some data and prepare a simple summary. At first, I was not sure how to use one of the software tools and I made a few small mistake for a moment. I felt embarrassed, but then I decided to ask for help instead of pretending i understood everything. My mentor, explained the process patiently and answer all my question. That moment taught me something important, it is completely normal not to know everything on your first day because learning is also a part of the job. Looking back, I am proud that I showed up with a positive attitude and stayed open to learning. Every new beginning feels challenging, but this first day, remind me that patience,curiosity and small steps are enough to move forward.
