Missed opportunity

This morning was a very productive. I woke up to the good news that I had received a research study in my inbox. I was delighted because this study was going to pay me well for my time. Without thinking for a moment I started that study while I was still sipping up my coffee. I had finished the study before I had finished my coffee. After sometime I had received another study which again was paying me well. I finished that study as well. Till 10 o'clock in the morning I had already had completed some work which was going to pay me well. I was indeed happy because of the work I had got done today and the subsequent payment that I was going to receive from it. I thought to myself that it is going to be a product of and profitable day.
Later around 12:00 p.m. I had received a freelance task. I had started working on that task and I was about to finish. Before I could press submit button I lost the internet connectivity. Because of this entire work that I had done on the project got wiped off. Everything was gone. Nothing was saved. I had just 5 minutes to complete that project and I knew in those 5 minutes I could not reproduce the entire work. I was disappointed but I let go off that task. With worries and disappointment, I saw the task disappearing from my work list. The status of the task showd "timed out". I was frustrated. I shut down the app and I focused on other things which I wanted to do. Suddenly I was not feeling as motivated as I had felt in the morning. I was disappointed and little disheartened. I felt like I was worthless. One failed task and all negative thoughts started bothering me.
Later I thought about the entire incident. I had given my time and efforts to this task. Nowhere I have faltered on completing my responsibilities. The reason it could not get submitted was beyond my control. A tiny human like me cannot control the external factors. I could not control the internet connectivity. I could not have done anything in that moment. I understood that the task could not be completed not because of my inefficiency but rather it could not get completed because of the external factors I could no longer control. I said to myself you cannot win all the battles. You need to lose some battles to understand the meaning of the victory.
This was so real. I lost one task and that made me realise how important was completion of the task. This one failed task made me realise the importance of the tasks that I had completed this morning. I thought to myself that I should not be disappointed because of one task that I could not get completed. I should celebrate the tasks that I had successfully completed in a short time. I should give more attention to the small wins rather than focusing on the failures. I closed my eyes and opened them with a new hope.
With that thought I was no longer disappointed. I felt much of positive energy after thinking in this way. I let go of one opportunities that I missed. And now I have decided that this evening I am going to celebrate my small wins. I don't know how but this is for sure that today's wins will be celebrated.
After the setback, what would you focus on?
Your vote is final.
this feels relatable and honest the emotional shift from confidence to disappointment and acceptance is meaningful trimming repetition would make the reflection even stronger and more impactful
it is inspiring to see how perspective can change situations around, if we look at certain aspects with a positive vision, we realise that the universe is unfolding exactly as it should.
