Looking back at my growth

AnonymousJun 30, 2026532 words

Today I have been thinking about how much I have grown over the past year. Sitting here with my coffee slowly getting cold, it feels good to look back. The small changes. I started making have really added up. I used to doubt myself all the time worrying about every decision. Now I feel more confident in my steps.

At first, it was hard, but those quiet Morning moments quickly become my favourite part of the routine. Well, I started reading books about building better habits. The ideas stuck with me and I began seeing real progress in everyday things. I finish workouts more often, met work deadline with time to stay and got better at saying “no” to the things that did not fit my energy.

Well for life still has it tough days of course. Last month, I put effort to a project only to have it sent back with feedback for changes. The rejection at first was tough. I spend some time replying every small flaw and wondering where i went wrong. But i did not stay stuck there. I reach out for more details, listening carefully to the suggestions, made the needed fixed and tried again. The updated version was more stronger and got good result. That’s experience out me. An important lesson growth is not always smooth or quick. It has set back and bumps along the way, but each one eat something useful if I stay open.

I also remember when I was doing my internship in ministry. I got rejected for my research paper because in my professor’s point of view it was not completed fully. Then I saw my colleagues are going home as they were approved by the same professor, and I was still there working hard on the same project that they had already finished. Two days later, I presented my updated research paper to my professor, and she was happy and complimented me on my work. We talked for two hours that day. Getting that much time of a professor was a big thing as everyone was wondering that how i impressed that professor who never seemed to be impressed by anyone.

So yes, things take time, so we have to be patient to get whatever God has planned for us for best.

As for now, my relationships have improved to. I’m learning to speak more honestly and set gentle boundaries when needed. One honest conversation with family help cleared up some old tensions that have been sitting there for a while. It felt relieving afterwards.

Outside of that, I have made sure to took out time for simple things like experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen or talking hours with my mother. These little activities keep me parallel and bring real happiness.

I know more challenges will show up ahead, but I feel better prepared these days. Even writing this journal help me see the bigger picture clearly, looking ahead still feels exciting. I plan to keep small task, small steps and writing my own story one day at a time. Growth takes time and efforts, but it’s definitely happening. Tomorrow is another fresh Charles to keep moving forward:)

you win the battle when you work after the rejection. I don't know if someone has told you this or not - you are doing a great job. keep moving slowly and steadily. you will achieve everything you desire.
