Looking back and Moving forward
Clearing space on my phone led to an emotional moment. The day I deleted all photos brought back many forgotten memories. As I went through thousands of pictures, some made me smile instantly while other left strangely distant, each photo told her story of a different time in my life. Many pictures showed happy moments with family and friends. Laughing faces. Celebration, photos and selfies.back warm feelings. I smiled remembering those carefree days, But some photos felt different now. Faces of people, I no longer talk to and places I don’t visit anymore, made me realise how much has changed.
As I look back through those pictures, I realised that photo are more than just memories. They are proved that certain people once means a lot to us. Sometimes, I wonder if I am the only one who still look back at those photos. Maybe I am the only one who still misses those conversation or think about those days. Those photos were the only proof that I still cared. Looking at us, smiling and laughing together made me miss that period of my life. For a moment, it even felt like those days were happier than the present. But then I stop and thought about it differently. Maybe I only miss the feeling of that time, not just the people. Life changes and so do we. The people we once thought would always stay, sometimes quietly become part of our past. It hurts yes, it does, but that is how life moves. Not every person is mean to stay forever. No matter how close they once were.
I also realised that today’s life will one day become a memory too. Maybe years from now, I will look back at this phase and miss it just as much. That thought reminded me to appreciate the present instead of only holding on the past, every stage of life has something beautiful, even if we cannot always see it while we are living it.
Life moves forward and people change. Some friendship fade naturally. Some chapters close quietly. Deleting those photos was not easy, but it felt necessary. It helped me make peace with the past and create space for the new memories. I kept the ones that still felt close to my heart and gently let go of the rest.
The process taught me that it is okay to move on. Memory stay in the mind, even if pictures are gone. I felt lighter after finishing. It was like releasing old weight, I had been caring without noticing.
More than anything, today reminds me how unpredictable life is. We never truly knows who will stay with us for years and who will slowly become a stranger again. Sometimes people leave us and sometimes we leave them behind without even realising it that is why I want to value the people who are in my life today.. small misunderstandings and unnecessary arguments are really worth losing someone over.
Deleting old photos was a small, but meaningful. It helped me accepting how life change and appreciate the present more deeply. I cannot hold on to every person or every moment forever, but I can be grateful that they were once part of my life. The memories will always stay with me, now I choose to carry them with gratitude instead of sadness, while counting to move forward.
I used to hate capturing my moments but one day i got someone I really wanted to pause those moments and live in those moments for maybe whole life obviously I can’t do that but that was the day I liked capturing moments
We do not just take pictures. We make memories and capture those memories. Years later when we look at them we realise how much everything has changed. Sometimes the photos make us smile or cry.
