Just another day
My day began with the alarm ringing for the third time. I had already negotiated with myself twice about getting out of bed and apparently I have lost both the arguments. I finally got up and checked my phone, scrolled through a few notification ms and some how spend fifteen minutes doing nothing.
Breajfast was the usual rush. I ate while thinking about that things I hadn't finished the previous day. There was the message I needed to reply to, some work waiting for me and a small task that I have been postponingbfir almost a week. Funny how the smallest responsibility become the easiest to avoid.
By afternoon, I had already convince myself that I deserved break. I opened Instagram for five minutes and emerged forty minutes later knowing far too much about stranger's holiday and somebody's wedding and the funny trend that everyone just seems to live but just doens't make sense. I actually felt a little dissatisfied. Then I put my phone down and went to the things that I was actually supposed to do.
Lunch was simple. There was nothing particularly intresting. But I was hungry enough to enjoy every bite. And that is when I realised how much I am previledged to have food infront of me. I could be born at the wrong place and could be begging for my food but I am not. That thought made me enjoy my food slowly and be grateful for my parents.
A random song played at the background and for few minutes I forgot everything that was happening.
Evening arrived and I still didn't accomplish what I wanted to do. I went outside for a little while and watched people turning from work and heard children nearby playing and noticed how everyone seems to be heading somewhere. They all were thinking about something when doing something else. Except for the kids who seem to have their time of the day while playing.
Dinner was followed by the familiar routine of checking my phone one last time although I know that one last time is never really the last time.
Now it's late. I didn't accomplish anything special or what I wanted today. I didn't make any big decision. But I did laugh at a silly joke and danced for a trending song while sitting in my seat. And by dance I mean just shackung my body while I was seated in the chair while in my mind I was dancing and moving my body in the way I wanted.
Maybe this is what adulthood and life actually looks like.
When you've spent the day avoiding tasks, do you
