It was a cold winter morning, and I was standing at a bus stop waiting for my bus to college. I was already late, so I was feeling irritated. I kept checking myphone again and again, hoping the bus would arrive soon

. There was an old man sitting on the bench beside me. His clothes weresimple, and he had a small cloth bag in his hands. He looked tired, but he had a peaceful smile on his face.

After some time, he asked me, “Beta, is this bus going towards the hospital?”I was in a hurry and honestly didn't want to talk. I simply said, “I don't know,” and went back to looking at my phone.

A few minutes later, I noticed that he was still standing there, looking at every bus carefully. Suddenly, I felt a little guilty. I asked him why he needed to go to the hospital.

He quietly replied, “My wife is admitted there. I have to give her some medicines.”Something changed inside me.

I checked the bus route on my phone and found that his bus had already passed through the stop. The next one was going to take almost forty minutes.

He looked worried.I decided to help him. I booked an auto for him and even explained the hospital location to the driver. Before leaving, the old man held my hand and said, “Godbless you, beta. I was afraid I would be late.”I watched the auto disappear down the road.That day, I reached college late. Surprisingly, I wasn't angry anymore.

I kept thinking about how easily I had ignored someone simply because I was busy with my own problems. I realised that sometimes people around us don'tneed money or big help. They just need someone to notice them.Today, everyone seems busy—busy with phones, work, studies and social media. We see hundreds of people every day,but we rarely stop to ask if someone needs help.We don't have to become heroes. We just need to become a little more human.A small act of kindness may take only five minutes from our day, but for someone else, those five minutes might mean everything.I still remember that old man's smile.

And whenever I see someone struggling now, I try not to look away.
