Is a Career Really Worth My Health?

AnonymousAug 19, 2026234 words

For a long time I believed I could balance everything. I was working hard, trying to build my career, while also taking care of my health. But there came a point when I realised I was struggling to balance both.

I was disgnosed with a fibroid cyst in my breast, and because it had grown quite large, I had to undergo a surgery to have it removed. Even after that, I had to deal with multiple cyst, and because of the hormonal imbalance, I had to make major changes to my diet and lifestyle. Trying to take care of my health while continuing to work was not easy. There were times when I pushed myself thinking about my responsibilities, my career and the fear of what might happen if I stepped away. But somewhere along the way I tarted asking myself: Is it really worth sacrificing my health for career and a paycheck?

We often fear losing our jobs, missing opportunities, or falling behind. But we forget that our health is what allows us to have a career in the first place.

My life taught me money can be earned again, but lost health is not always easy to regain. Sometimes life teaches us when to pause, step back, and choose what truly matters.

Sometimes, choosing ourselves is not giving up on our career. Taking a break and getting back stronger is also normal.
