if i knock, would you see me?

I was a crib full of absence, a mouth that learned not to ask much without expecting returns,

I wished myself into a casket, torn and unmended just to feel you stich me.

You look so much past,

You always look past

Still standing there,

Never changed,

You never will,

And i don’t expect,

And i never will.

Yet my heart still beats for you to say those enchanted syllables.

This was beautiful, but also quietly painful. The line about "learning not to ask much" stayed with me. It's sad how hope can survive even after expectations are gone. Really powerful piece.
