If I Could Pause Time for One Day

AnonymousJun 29, 2026720 words

I was thinking about this while walking back from college. If somebody comes to me and said, "You can stop time for one whole day", I don't think I would even ask questions, I would say yes. Not because I hate my life for anything dramatic like that. I just think life has become....loud. There is always a notification common assignment, someone uploading another achievement on LinkedIn, another trend on Instagram that I don't even understand, and somehow everybody else looks like they have secured everything out except me. I know social media is only showing highlights but still sometimes your brain does not listen to logic. The funny thing is time actually stop I don't think I would do anything heroic, I would not try to become rich or sneak into expensive places. I think I would simply walk that's it, just walk. I wonder how was setting looks when nobody is moving. Cars frozen in the middle of roads. Birds probably hanging in the air. Trees standing in exactly the way they are without a single leaf moving. It sounds little creepy now that I am writing it but a bit peaceful.

There is one quote I come a cross a long time ago "Time you enjoy wasting is not wasted time." I did not fully understand it then full stop now I think I do. Somewhere along the way we started believing every minute has to produce something. Written pages. Learning skill. Finish a course. Builder CV. Reply to emails. Sleep early so you can wake up at 5 because apparently every successful person does it. Honestly it gets exhausting.

If I had that one positive I would probably carry a backpack filled with books. Not because I want to finish them quickly but because I finally want to read without checking how many pages are left. I have this bad habit of calculating everything. "Only thirty pages". "This chapter is long". Reading was not supposed to feel like a race.

I would definitely pick up Meditations again. Every time I read a few pages it's sums how tell me to slow down without actually saying those words. Marcus Aurelius lived century is a go and some house till understand what an over thinking 20 year old feels like which is impressive..

I think I would also leave my phone somewhere. But just leave it Full stop whenever there is even 5 seconds of silence, my hand automatically reaches for it. Is almost like I have forgotten how to be bored. May be boredom is not even a bad thing. Maybe that's where the good ideas come from.

I would sleep. A proper afternoon nap without setting 5 alarms because I am scared of wasting time. I would visit a book store too. Imagine setting there for hours without anybody asking your unit help or if the store is close in full stop I would probably end up reading random books I never plan to buy. That's usually how I find the best one's anyways.

There is another thing I would do, all those sounds little silly. I would sit with the people I love. Even though they could not talk because time has stopped. Main bhi Bata end of the day I would not have achieve anything impressive, no certificate, no crossed out to do list. But I think I would understand something important. The World Is not actually asking me to run all the time. All out of that pressure is coming from me. From comparing timelines. From feeling guilty every time I rest. From believing that's slowing down means falling behind full stop when times started moving again, nothing outside what probably change. The deadlines would Still Be there. My unread messages would Still Be waiting. College would continue exactly where it left off.

But maybe I would return differently.

Maybe I would not scroll YouTube shots the moment I sent bored. Maybe I would stop checking the clock every 15 minutes while studying. Maybe I would read one extra chapter simply because I enjoyed it, not because it was on my schedule. Honestly comma if one quite day could teach me that, I think it would be the most productive day of my life even though technically I did almost nothing at all.

That is really a nice and creative thought. I never thought what I would do if I got the power to stop the time You have given me a lot of ideas.
