I was never a writer
I remember my younger self being utterly annoyed whenever my mother refused to give in to my demand of answering orally, instead of taking a written test. Writing everything down felt mundane and unnecessary to me as I was convinced I remembered every spelling perfectly.
I don't really remember when that changed , but somewhere along the way I became the kind of student who needs to write in order to remember.
My college days were filled with notebooks, and when I started preparing for competitive exams, I found myself wanting an entirely new bookshelf to hold all of them.
Somewhere in between, I started writing in a diary ( a gift from my sister). I would have never bought one for myself . I had tried keeping a diary before , but I never really knew what to write and how to write it. This time was different.
Slowly that diary became a safe space for me - a place where I can pour my heart out without any hesitation. I realized that I'm not drawn to writing situations as much as to writing emotions , perhaps that's the poet in me.
Today that diary is an irreplaceable part of my life. It listens without judgement. It helps me understand myself better. It reaches the hidden corners of my heart I never knew were occupied.
So in the end , I write -
"O Diary, dear Diary-
I'm indebted to you, you held me at my worst, and cherished me at my best. You brought out the best in me. You made me realize -
'I am the stillness I seek- rooted, unshaken like the earth , vast and forgiving like the sky I carry within.' "
you’re write, writing about your feeling and your experience really do help you alot as it should be a habit and of doing it everyday and I’ve learnt this recently it really helps.
Really writing about our day, thoughts, feelings is such a soothing experience.
You say you are not a writer but this is so beautifully written
